- Ball Discusses Teacher Evaluations in 16 Minute Radio Interview
On May 30, Deborah Loewenberg Ball was interviewed on the “Capital City Recap” show on WILS-1360 (Lansing, MI). Ball discussed her role as chair of the Michigan Council for Educator Effectiveness (MCEE), a committee of experts that Governor Rick Snyder tasked with designing a statewide system to measure educator performance and K-12 student learning. The MCEE recently proposed a one-year pilot study of different evaluation programs in a mix of urban, suburban, and rural districts. During the radio interview, Ball stressed the importance of creating a “fair and transparent” evaluation system and considered the impact of the council’s work: "I'm excited about the fact that Michigan has decided to take a leadership role. It's exciting that we're being ambitious about building a system that could make changes in the quality of Michigan students' learning."
