EdWeek quoted Deborah Loewenberg Ball in an October 15 article discussing TeachingWorks' and the Educational Testing Service's joint effort to develop a real-time, practice-based teacher performance exam. The new exam will be capable of measuring teacher-candidates' ability to execute key aspects of instruction, such as leading a class discussion and asking probing questions to gauge students' understanding. Ball, the director of TeachingWorks, emphasized, "We should debate less about entry standards to teacher education, and we should agree more on what the exit standards are."
