Deborah Loewenberg Ball was quoted in a November 14 article in the Kansas City Star discussing current major efforts to reform first-year teacher preparation. The Star referenced Ball’s comments from her recent keynote address at an Education Writers Association symposium: “There is an overwhelming lack of public respect for the work of teachers” in the U.S., and new teacher preparation “should be a public issue of vital moral, practical and political urgency.”
