This building was built in 1886 and operated as a train station. It was considered to be the finest of stops along the Michigan Central Line. Spier and Rohns designed this building in Romanesque style characterized by heavy stone walls, deep-set arched windows, and stained glass windows. Perhaps its most grabbing feature is its large set stones. The stones were found up the Huron River at Foster's Station. In 1969, the C. A. Muer Corporation purchased the property. Muer's opened the Gandy Dancer, which is now considered one of Ann Arbor's finest restaurants. In 1976 a new kitchen was built and a glassed-in dining area was added to adjust for the growing popularity of the restaurant.
