This website serves to explore the indigenous philosophy that was present in the Chicano Movement. "El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán" reinforced the cultural nationalism present in the movement through the conceptual motherland of Aztlán. By accepting Aztlán, Chicanos accepted their indigenous roots that, prior to the movement, had been negated by the United States. These indigenous roots remain present in symbols that are used in both the arts and literature. By examining "El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán" we gain an understanding of the indigenous roots and the nationalist sentiments of the Chicano Movement.
