Ester Hernandez, Sun Mad, 1982 This poster is a spoof of the Sun Maid Raisins box and a criticism of the grape plantations. The skeleton, or calavera, is holding the grapes and the caption Sun Mad indicate that consuming the product is deadly and the consumer would be mad to do it. The fine print reads "UNNATURALLY GROWN WITH INSECTICIDES, MITICIDES, HERBICIDES, AND FUNGICIDES." During the 1980s, Cesar Chavez led migrant workers in protesting the use of these chemicals.
