Biography of Freddie Prinze Jr.

Born to Freddie Prinze Sr. and Katherine Cochran on March 8, 1976, Freddie James Prinze Jr. entered the world in Los Angeles, California. At the time, his father was an established comedian and actor, and his mother was a real estate agent. Sadly, ten months after Freddie’s birth, his father committed suicide. Left alone with her baby, the event spurred Katherine to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico to begin anew with Freddie.
As time passed, Freddie preferred playing alone and he developed a keen sense of creativity which he incorporated into the arts. At a young age, he became part of the Duo Drama Company and the Albuquerque Children’s Theater. Not long after he graduated from high school in 1994, Freddie returned to his birthplace to pursue a career in acting. Following in his father’s footsteps, he began acting in television shows such as Family Matters, Too Soon for Jeff, and Detention: The Siege at Johnson High. Finally in 1996, Freddie was able to land a role in the movie To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday. However it was not until 1997 that his name became well-known. In fact, his starring role in I Know What You Did Last Summer helped develop his career as an established actor. Although his following role was not a success, his growing fame continued to spread worldwide with his performance in the film, She’s All That, and other romantic comedies.
Throughout his developing career, Freddie built a friendship with the actress Sarah Michelle Gellar who also co-starred in the hit movie I Know What You Did Last Summer. They also both starred in Scooby Doo in 2002. Later that year the two were wed in Mexico.

Currently Freddie Prinze Jr. is expanding his role in the business by producing and writing. Some of his current projects include a television series, Mutant-X, and a movie, Rave Train. When he is not working, Freddie enjoys writing, reading comics, playing video games, and watching cartoons. He also is a junior-Olympic boxing champion and likes to cook, play baseball, and listen to the band Garbage.
Much like his father, Freddie Prinze Jr. became an inspiring actor at a young age. Still only twenty eight years old, Freddie has a remarkable future ahead. “Freddie Prinze Jr. is a consummate actor. Action films, comedies. He can do it all.”
