Point Seven:

Point Seven is in clear resistance to assimilation. The decendents of Puerto Ricans in America were being taught by white teachers about American History in English with no regard for the rich, diverse culture of the children present in the classroom. The Young Lords viewed this disregard for their culture as a "genocide." They felt it was absolutely necessary for the youth to be taught the history, culture, and language of their people in order for Puerto Rican-Americans to continue the stuggle against oppression.
