It happened in one moment, with one blink,
The sky fell quickly, the sun grew dim,
One moment, laughter, smiles and cheer,
The next moment screams, groans, and fear.
Is there a measure, of the pain we all felt?
Is there a gauge, of the shock that image dealt?
Can there ever, be healing from this?
Will there ever be peace, as we reminisce?
The face of a country, a people so free,
Changed in an instant, and none could flee,
Terrorist attacks, as the world could see,
In New York City, how could this be?
Minutes later, it happened again,
And again in another city, and the pain was times ten.
Denial, Disbelief, Anger, then action too,
We’ve heard it before, but it’s different when it’s you.
The questions come, furious and fast,
Why did God let this happen, this terrible crash?
Who is He, to let humans die?
Who is He, to let Death fly by?
Is there a purpose, in all this madness?
Yes, there is, despite all the sadness.
God has a plan, it’s hard to believe,
He has a plan, one only He can achieve.
End time predictions, stories and prophecies,
You’ve heard them all and seen them too ,
From the days of Noah, to the time of the Pharisees,
People have talked, like they know the truth.
And some have known, but some have not,
And some have listened, and some have taught,
But others, have laughed, scoffed and been deaf,
And they have lived, or seen and faced death.
And through those prophecies, and predictions and times,
They have succeeded and failed, but one constant we find,
God has been there, through those turns of history,
God has been there, to give His people liberty.
In times of pain, when everything is on your shoulders,
When those family members and closest ones have perished, when you can’t seem to carry more boulders,
Look to God, to be your fortress and strength,
Cast your cares upon Him, height, width and length.
I don’t have all the answers, to why this happened,
I don’t know God’s purpose, or plan in wrapping,
But I do know this, and I know it well,
That good will come out of this, even though many fell.
Lord I ask, today for those,
Who lost their lives, as time froze,
That they may sleep peacefully, until You come,
To take us all home, to Your heavenly throne.
For those left here, on this Earth to toil,
Without those close to us, on this hard soil,
Help us to see, that You’ve seen it too,
Help us to see, that You are crying too,
Help us to remember, of what You've done,
To give up Jesus, Your only one,
To die for all who perished, today and forever,
And suffer pain, of which we'll know never.
And for us, to look to that day, glorious and soon,
When we’ll all be changed, in the twinkling of an eye,
The sky will fall, and the sun will grow dim,
But we’ll know unthinkable joy, and we will know Him.
