After a while, they dragged Simon and I into the Room of No Return. They
made me sit in a chair next to him while he sat in the Hot Seat. There was
the Man, Fiona, and this other guy with red hair. They talked for a while,
mostly stuff Simon had told me already. And then the guy with the red hair
took Simon out another door. Leaving me alone with the interrogation.
So I ended up in the Hot Seat before the Man. He wanted to know the story,
the whole story. So I told it to him. Starting from Luke swiping the
picture of the Unicorns all the way to now. Fiona took a bunch of stuff out
of my head, left and came back. And that was weird.

While she was gone, I thought I would clarify something that was confusing
me to no end. So I asked about this whole center of the universe thing. If
we're at the center, what's at the edge? And how do you KNOW we're the
center? And what's it a Pattern of, exactly? Can we make more?
The Man just sat there and looked at me confused. "But don't feel bad," I
said, "about feeling confused. Because you're not alone."

After that Fiona came back. They started talking about the reprocussions of
the whole Luke firing the gun thing. Everyone seems really upset, and they
were talking about accessory to attempted murder and all sorts of really
bad stuff. (Well, maybe not everyone was upset. Maybe just me.) At least
that Caine guy doesn't want to off me or nuthin. They seemed to want to let
it drop, because I don't know what's going on, let alone try to kill
someone.

Then they told me they were pretty sure Luke wasn't my Dad. They had been
watching him for years. And HIS Dad, which he's so fixated on, isn't a big
hero. He's a wacko, too. Although I never got the bit about the asphalt
straight. (I did learn about a place called Chaos where they dress badly,
tho.)

It was a bit of a let down. For a while, I felt like I didn't really belong
to ANYONE. Not like I don't have parents, but I've always been curious who
they were. And we're in this place with lots of people, and no one wants to
claim me. Feels kind of... sad. But I won't worry.

After that they told me about how dangerous this walking the Pattern thing
was. It didn't sound so bad, and Fiona said she would take me. So I went.
