A few days ago I had dream about the Unicorn. It prompted me to ask Benedict (to my knowledge the oldest of the princes) about whether the Unicorn was real. He said that it was. He felt that it was a manifestation of some grand design.

I thought of the Serpent in the same fashion. That was until I met him. A cloaked figure with the Jewel of Judgment for an eye addressed us as we made to escape Brandon's floating castle.

Well that explained how the tide of Corwin's battle with Brandon had turned. Corwin mention that Brandon was able to do something that should have been impossible for him. I suspect that mysterious event was the Serpent's doing. Now here we stood staring the greatest force of Chaos in the eye. I backed slowly out of the room.

Entropy he called it. His plan to chaotically remake the universe. It was like a giant flailing, expanding Logrus.

The strange part is that he let us all go - gave us plenty of time to escape. A random whim, perhaps. Such is the way of chaos, I suppose.

Afterward Locke mentioned regretfully that we should have leapt across the table when we first met the Serpent and ripped the Jewel right from its socket. Such a bold move would've been truly heroic. He's right. We missed a chance to tip the scales and do something historic. There will be other days. May one of us have the inspiration and bravery to perform such an act in the future.
