The Songs of Healing soothe the pain of existance. Each performance affects one person. A failure has no effect other than wasted Essence.

This song is the corporeal balm of regeneration. The performer taps into the Symphony to heal hits of damage equal to the check digit, to himself or to anyone else he can physically touch.

Maxwell can invoke this song by either singing aloud the Harmonious Hymm of Healing, or by tracing a symbol of health in the air before him or upon the forehead of his subject. This takes approximately 5 seconds. The healing begins at the beginning of the invocation and is complete by it conclusion. If both actions are taken slowly and deliberately with the symbol drawn first and the hymm sung afterwards the performance takes about 15 seconds and Maxwell's chance is increased by 1. More elaborate performances can increase the chance of success to near certainty.

The Songs of Motion were created by the Ofanim, but have spread to the farthest reaches of the Symphony.

This song allows Maxwell to fly through the air to more quickly engage his foes, or to wisk innocents off to safety. He can fly in any direction he wishes, but not through solid objects. He will be propelled at 20 mph. (or faster if more Essense is spent) up to a number of minutes equal to the check digit. When the song lapses he can no longer fly, but will either drift safely to the ground or can take his chances by leaping to the ground. Maxwell can carry up to 50 pounds per Essense while flying.

Maxwell knows this song well enough to perform it mentally, however this delays the effect about 5 seconds. Singing the song aloud or gesturing himself into a flying state yields quicker results.

Classic defensive measures among celestials, the Songs of Shields prevent or deflect many of life's hardships.

By speaking "Power of Laurence and the Lord above him grant the armor of heaven's righteous warriors to your humble servant." in Latin Maxwell receives a shining suit of invulnerable white platemail. This platemail remains with him for 40-65 seconds during which time he is free to attack without fear of harm.

Maxwell may also create a larger field of protection to keep the innocent from harm. This field is bounded by a curtain of white light which hardens into a crusader's shield upon impact. The radius of the field is 2 feet for every point of essense spent.

In his recent struggles with demons Maxwell has found his mind under assault again and again. Each time he has slightly improved his ability to defend himself. Now he can almost reflexively activate this song to augment his improved will.

This song generates a barely visually detectable (perception roll required to detect) sphere of the clearest white light. The sphere lasts for 40-65 seconds.

The minds of all within this field achieve lucidity and are free from all outside attacks. The sphere will repell any attunement, resonance, or essense based attack. It will have no effect on physical or purely will based attacks.

With a combination of an elaborate set of motions and an elegantly anonymous tune Maxwell can shift the natural barriers around in an area to allow activities within to go unnoticed. This shield lasts for 6-11 minutes.

No celestial force - whether it's a resonance or an attunement - can peek beneath this shield. Also any disturbances made to the Symphony within the shield are delayed until the barrier drops.

This is the song that Maxwell has the weakest grasp of. It may well serve him to preform the song much more slowly and carefully. Taking a quarter minute to prepare the area increase his chance of success by one. A full minute of preparation increases his chance by 2. Complete and total preparation of the area (5 minutes) will increase his success chance by 3.


Cherub of Laurence Attunement

With a glance and a little thought Maxwell can attune himself to a being or object. As long as it exists in the corporeal plane he knows its general location and condition. If it is in danger Maxwell will know immediately. He can attune to up to 10 things at once, but protection requires a lot of effort, so he rarely attunes to more than a few. If the object of the attunement is destroyed a point of dissonance is generated. A successful Will roll can negate the attunement, but a failed attempt also sounds a point of dissonance.


Seraph of Laurence Attunement

Maxwell can now tell, at a glance, whether or not the foes he engages in battle are ultimately on the side of good or evil. The catch is that this requires a successful Perception roll.


Vassal of the Sword Distinction

Maxwell can remain serious under any conditions and can judge the seriousness of others.

Maxwell can judge the courage of others.
