Medieval Book of the Hours

These paintings were part of a masterpiece called Les Tres Riches Heures. Painted in France around 1410 C.E., they were part of an illustrated prayer book called the "book of the hours." The book included a calendar. These paintings were part of the calendar. The top painting accompanied the month of January and the bottom painting accompanied March.
