1987-88 EFL Season

The inaugural EFL season began with an evening party at the home of Mike and Sheila Ryan.  The gathered owners were provided with the rules by Mike Ryan  precisely 3 minutes and 23 seconds prior to draft order selection.

Draft order was determined using playing cards, ace through 6.  Mike, after "drawing" the ace, then initiated the league and with the selection of John Elway, qb, from the Denver Broncos.  Subsequent picks, such as Gerald Riggs, Al Toon, and JT Smith proved deadly to the rest of the league.

The inaugural EFL season proved to be very entertaining and several precedents were established.  It was also tainted by the occurrence of the NFL strike two weeks into the season, resulting in four weeks of inactivity.

Mike barely survived an onslaught by Cesar, who scored 877, 906, and 987 in the last three weeks compared to 708, 719, and 709 by Mike. Robert "Guido" Wolk finished in last place, done in by a 246 point record low (at the time) score in week 12.

A EFL record high score of 1,007 was set by Sheila Ryan this season.
