This line services the west side of the lake, running between Omi Shiotsu in the north and Kyoto in the south. Yamashina Station is the only direct connection between the Biwako Line and the Kosei Line. When travelling from Kyoto, the final destinations are Katata, Omi Imazu, Omi Maiko and Nagahara. Futsu and Shinkaisoku trains also run on the Kosei Line, so make sure to check that the train you want to take will stop at your destination. Also, when traveling from Yamashina station, make sure not to mix up the final destinations of Nagahara ( ) and Nagahama ( ). Trains traveling toward Nagahara will enter the Kosei Line, while trains to Nagahama will continue on the Biwako Line.
