Dear Nyla,

I am resubmitting my very limited TURNER line in hopes of finding
a connection. My line is from WV and possibly from VA before
that. I wish I had more information to share.

My 2GGF was Wilbur(er) TURNER. His wife was Mae STONE.
Their children included:
     Della
     Stella
     Mamie
     Oscar
     Otto
     Nellie Mae

Nellie Mae (my GGM) was born in WV (county/city unknown) 14
August 1891. She married Wilber(ur) NEWLEN in Columbiana Co.,
OH.

I do not have any additional information on Wilber TURNER, Mae
STONE, or Nellie's siblings. Does anyone have a TURNER line that
migrated from VA to OH via WV?

Thanks for the help,

Rebekah Shelton

Hi Nyla,

I just recently learned about your list from cousin Eddie Vaden.
I only recently began to research this name as well as many other
conecting lines. My interest is in the Turners, Hatchers,
Thomas, Ingrams, Shorts and Wests from the Franklin, Henry,
Patrick and Floyd Counties of VA.

My gg grandmother was Sarah Deborah Hatcher the daughter of
William Hatcher and Judith Turner. Judith Turner was the daughter
of Francis Turner and Nancy Thomas of Patrick co.,VA.

Sarah Hatcher married Ira Short in Franklin County abt. 1860 and
he died during the Civil War. They had one child named Alberta
Short Ingram in 1862. Sarah Hatcher remarried Thomas O. Ingram
and Alberta was raised by him. Alberta married James Madison
West of Franklin county, VA in 1882. I hope to learn more bout
the Short's of Franklin county as well as to identify this James
West. Also would like to learn more about the other connecting
lines.

recall, I have one and so does my husband (his is from LA.).
The TX census was wrong! It said my great great grandmother,
Lou "Ella" TURNER was born in TX. and her husband was
JW PARRENT.

Well, a PARRENT cousin who just found me has a letter from Lou
"Ellen" Turner. Lou Ellen writes she is indian and that she was
born in Forrest, Scott County, Mississippi!! The cousin gave me
the following:

Descendants of Mary Anice McGEEHEE TURNER:
1 Mary Anice MCGEEHEE, md. _____ TURNER, Daughter of J. H.
MCGEE and Alice COEN

2 Lou Ella/Ellen TURNER
Born: 11 November 1860 Forrest, Scott County, Mississippi,
Died: 2 September 1947 Linn, Marshall County, Oklahoma ,
md. James Walton Cal PARRENT (Born: 20 December 1858
California) Married: 9 February 1882 Collinsville, Grayson
County, Texas, Died: 8 November 1917 Linn, Marshall County,
Oklahoma, Father: Henry PARRENT Mother: Lena Ann THOMAS.

2 Charlie David TURNER Born: 2 January 1858 Montgomery,
Alabama

Does anyone have Forrest, Scott County, MS and/or Montgomery, AL.
TURNERs???

Please help! I have been searching in TX for sooo long and now
have a chance to find my Turner family.

PS My husband's line is still from Avoyelles Parish, LA. in the

Hello! I just got back into doing genealogy again after 10 years
and have only been doing it on the computer for a week, and I
can't believe all the helpful people and info that is out there!
I wrote to Elizabeth Harris (chlamy@acpub.duke.edu) about the
Turners and she sent me some info as well as your name and told
me to introduce myself to you. This morning she sent me the
first of 12 parts of the Turners that had been compiled by David
Jones.

In your introductory note to that listing you said that your
ancestor was Rev. John Turner. Mine too! He married Nancy
Burnett, and one of their kids was Ruth Turner who married John
Lackey and that is where my line continues. (Actually my
husband's).

I have been looking for info about a Josiah Turner (not of this
particular Turner family that I can figure out).
He married Malinda Ruth Ingram on Sept. 1, 1848 in Franklin Co.
Va. She was the daughter of James Ingram and Elizabeth Hall. I
would love to find out more about this Josiah.

I also have a Francis Turner born 18-4-1794 or 96 in Patrick Co.
Va. His parents were Adam Turner and P.___. Francis married
Nancy Thomas on 16-1-1814 in Pat. Co. and he died 18-6-1871.
Would you have any info on these people? I would appreciate any
help you can give. Do I need to be put on some sort of mailing
or e-mailing address to get the other 11 listings of the Turners
that will be coming out? Let me know how I can help. My address
is HarrisSEM@aol.com. My name is Sherry and I look forward
to hearing from you.

I just wanted to thank you for your help! I'm just so excited
about all this information. I finally found my Josiah Turner
today after years of wondering due to the info you gave me about
the Turner/Ross etc website. He was so important to my family
because one of his children, Malinda Ruth Turner Rakes lead to my
husband's grandparents and another one of his children, James W.
Turner lead to my husband's grandmother! Thanks again! Sherry
