County, Texas. First court sessions were held under a tree in 1847.
Pinkneyville is no more. There was a article in the Denton, Tx paper
(perhaps Dallas paper) that went into the history and demise of
Pinkneyville, Texas.

I have been told by a family member that there is a book that exists on my
husband's Louisianna TURNER family, but no details about it are known.
Can someone tell me if they possess ANY Turner family history book(s)?
If so, would you please look up his TURNERs in your book? It surely
must cover more than just the Louisianna connection so perhaps someone
has it in the group. I can't get the book, don't know where it is located, or
the name. Please help.
We asked a few weeks ago for those searching Louisianna TURNERs to
step forward, but I have not heard from anyone, not seen any in the
newsletters. So, once again if you are searching LOUISIANNA
TURNER FAMILIES please contact me. I am at a dead end...

Hi Jeannette,
Your Turners from Caroline Co are of interest to me. Your names seem so
similiar to my group of Turners.
My Terisha Turner who went by the nickname Terry or Teri took a wife from
Caroline Co - Sarah Wimpey. (her parents John and Mary who also lived in
Essex Co. Va.
We have a group of researchers working on Terisha's family but are unable
yet to find his birthplace for sure or his parents.
We have some that think he was born in VA, some that think Scotland, and
some England.
He lived in Amherst/Albemarle area after he married and appeared in records
there about 1750.
Do you have much early info on your Caroline Co. Turners -as to where they
came from or even guesses?
Were they baptist or do you know what religion?
Here are some of the names of families that were wife lines or closely
associated.

I found a book in my local LDS Family History Center.
"John and Amy Gatewood and their Descendants 1666-1986" by Carol J
Gothberg. The book was printed in 1987. I have written to the author in
hopes that I can purchase a copy. It is full of information. They were
the parents of Amy Gatewood who married John Burnett II.
If anyone in our family circle has this book let me know. If no one has
this book and I am able to purchase it I will have a lot of info to
share with everyone.

John Burnett, b. 1760 in NC (?); d. 17 Apr 1826 [age 66] in Bullock Co,
GA; m. 24 Oct 1802 in Burke Co, Ga at home of William Wallace to MOLLY
Shepherd. Molly/Mary, [b.1781?]; d. 1860 Clinch Co GA.
In 1789, John was granted 170 acres in Burke Co, Ga and in 1816, another
200 + 500 acres.
In 1838, widow Molly Burnett drew land as a Revolutionary widow, being
then a resident of Lowndes Co, Ga.
On 2 May 1854, Molly applied for pension from Clinch Co, Ga stating she
was age 73 [b.1781] and that her husband JOHN BURNETT was a pvt and
served 7 yrs; he entered the service while a resident of Onslow Co, NC
at age of 14 to 15 yrs old; He served as a teamster in Capt. Amos
Love's Co, Col. Mitchell's Regiment in 1776. Her pension was denied for
lack of proof.
In 1859, she said she was age 92 [b.1757 - too old for child bearing
1805 to 1824] and that her husband was a pvt in the Georgia Militia in
1776 under Capt. George Barber [Note: the last statement was due to some
enterprising pension agent in Washington who wrote out the 1859
declaration and sent to her to sign. The JOHN BURNETT in the GA Militia
was another man who was of GLENN CO, GA and his pension file was
#R.1473. He rec'd 250 acres of bounty land free from taxes for 10 yrs].
The Bible record of John Burnett and Molly/Mary Shepherd was filed with
the pension application [all were born in Statesboro, Bullock or Burke
Co, Ga]:

elderly aunt told me that she received one periodically although she had
not subscribed to it. She did not recall much about it, since she is not
