Greetings to Everyone,

A big welcome to all of our new folks, and a big hello to all of our group.
Just a reminder that any information you care to share on your family will
be greatly appreciated.

All of our compilations are available on Chris Gaunt's home page. I
encourage everyone that has not already done so to take a look at these
compilations. Our group has been together about a year and a half, and we
have shared a lot of information.

Dale, you and I MUST have some people in common! I am a Burnett all the way
back and sort of tangentially connected to the Shadrack Turner line ....WAAY
back to John Burnett b. 1660 who m. Amey Gatewood....ANYWAY -

Beginning at the OTHER end, i.e. me - my great grandfather was CAPT. WILLIAM
WILTSHIRE ("BUCK") BURNETT, CSA (22Jan1829-16 Mar 1873) who married (in
Dinwiddie County, Va., I think, but later they moved to Rutherford Co., Tn)
MARGARET ROUNTREE (ROUNDTREE) B 1846 (she was his second wife, first being
Elizabeth E. Bowden who d. 1865)

MARGARET ROUNTREE'S parents were Thomas Rountree (b. about 1800 probably in
Dinwiddie Co., Va.) and Sarah Unknown last name.

Does that give you any clues to anything?

Please do let me know if this opens up anything for you because I have been

Tammy-
My Burnett line went from Kentucky to Indiana in 1838. I am descended from
James C. Burnett through his first child, Pryor Burnett, by J.C.'s first
wife, Keziah Pulliam. It's possible that there is an Indiana connection
here, but I have to do more digging to find out. If you are related to
Jeremiah Burnett (Jerry?), we may have some connection to the Virginia
Burnetts that the group is most heavily composed of. I am forwarding your
message to Nyla and the Burnett Group to see if anyone knows anything! Keep
your fingers crossed!

Dear Kevin,

I wrote to you awhile back. (I'm from Alta Vista, Ks.) about the Burnett
family. Unfortunately I'm not much farther than I was when I wrote the
first time. To refresh your memory a little I was searching for info on
Jerry & Charlotte Baker Burnett, my GG Grandparents. I wrote to the
Rockcastle Library in Rockcastle, Ky. and did receive the 1870 census.
It lists:

Jerry Burnett age 34 Blacksmith IN.
Charlotte age 33 Keeping House KY.
Schuyler age 12 Farms KY.
Hannie age 10
Joseph age 8
Lettie age 6
Dovy age 4
Bruce age 2 (my Great Grandfather)
Charlotte age 7 months

All children born in Kentucky, as well as the mother. We had originally
thought that Jerry was as well. Now we see from this he was from
Indiana. I've read in the comps where there were Burnett families there,
but know no more than just Jerry's name himself. No brothers, sisters,
etc.

Do any of these names sound familiar to you?

And do you have any ideas on any Burnetts from Indiana?

Please let me know. Thanks,
Tammy Burnett Lillich

Nyla and William,

I would like to offer some corrections on this line. There seems to be
some confusion. These particular Turner's came out of Isle of Wight Co.,
VA. I checked the Southampton records for these dates and could find no
mention of a Michael Turner, Isham Turner or Durham Turner. Will Books 1-5
didn't show any Whitlock families either. Hope that this helps.

Nyla and all -- I think we should have a Turner Day and declare all
Turners related. These Turners are darn difficult to track. I've
renamed my Turners --

There's Elusive Turner -- son of Anonymous and Unk. His Wife was also
Unk and they had two children who were -- Can't Be Found and Darn
Difficult to Find.

Sorry -- but I'm about to give up on my Turners.
Bette

======================
Bette: I think we all have at least one ancestor named Unknown (AKA Unk).
Don't give up yet. New folks are joining our group all the time. Send us a
reminder as to which Turner family is yours.

Folks: Anyone who needs more help in locating their line can send me a query
to include in the next compilation. Let's all be pro-active in finding that
Unknown ancestor.

I encourage everyone to look through all of the Compilations that are on
Chris Gaunt's home page. They can be searched onLine, as well as downloaded.
Thanks to Kevin, the files have been zipped. We are now at Compilation
191.

If I haven't told you lately, let me say it now, "Thank you for sharing so
much information on your family." This is a wonderful group of cousins.

From:	HarrisSEM
To:	NCreed1, jcox@jps.net

Hi! I hope both of you get this ok. Sorry it took me a while to get back to
you about
Drucilla Philpott-I had to work all this weekend.

We are not related. All of this Turner etc stuff is all on my husband's
maternal side, so you are related to him and my children. I guess I could be
a cousin-in-law? : )

Here is a brief outline of his Turner-Burnett-Philpott line:

1. Shadrack Turner and Ann Hill--->
2. William Turner and Jane Hunter--->
3a. Rev. John Turner and Nancy Burnett---->
     4. Ruth Turner and John Lackey--->
     5. William Crawford Lackey and Martha J. Sneed--->
     6. George W. Lackey and Elizabeth Turner ( dau. James W. Turner & Susan
A.
Adams. James son of Josiah Hunter Turner , Jr. and Malinda Ruth Ingram)
     7. Sarah Lou Lackey and Shade Lee Rakes--->
     8. Eva Ruth Rakes and Henry Garfield Harris--->
     9. Charles Harris and Sherril "Sherry" Whitaker--->
    10. We have 3 children.

3b. Josiah Hunter Turner , Sr. and Drucilla Price Philpott--->
     4. Josiah Hunter Turner, Jr., and Malinda Ruth Ingram ( his second
wife)-->
        5a. James W. Turner and Susan A. Adams--->
          6. Elizabeth Ruth Turner and George W. Lackey--->
          7. Sarah Lou Lackey and Shade Lee Rakes--->
          8. Eva Ruth Rakes and Henry Garfield Harris--->
          9. Charles Harris and Sherril Whitaker--->
         10. We have 3 children.

5b. Malinda Ruth Turner and John Jefferson Rakes--->
          6. Shade Lee Rakes and Sarah Lou Lackey--->
          7. Eva Ruth Rakes and Henry Garfield Harris--->
          8. Charles Harris and Sherril Whitaker--->
          9. We have 3 children.

As an aside from above, James W. Turner and Susan A. Adams had a daughter,
Elizabeth Ruth Turner who married George W. Lackey . Their daughter, Sarah
Lou Lackey was my huband's natural grandmother. James and Susan had another
daughter, Exoney Malinda Turner who married James Lovell and their daughter,
Effie Elizabeth Lovell married Shade Lee Rakes after Sarah's death and became
my husband's step-grandmother!

As you can see the Turners-Burnett- Philpott line is so important. The
Philpotts and
Turners led to my husbands grandfather, Shade Lee Rakes. The Philpotts and
Turners also led to my husband's g-grandmother, Elizabeth Ruth Turner, while
the Turners and Burnetts led to Elizabeth Ruth's husband, my husbands
g-grandfather, George W. Lackey.

So, the Philpotts (from Edward Philpott) are his 8th great grandparents ( on
his
grandfather's side) and his 9th great grandparents (on his grandmothers
side)

Drucilla was the only g-g-g-grandparent whose parents I did not have. Now I
do, and
more, thanks to your help! The information and help that you both gave me
was so
important to our family tree and I sincerely thank you!

Hope this wasn't too confusing.
