Greetings to Everyone,

A big welcome to our new folks. Any information you care to share on your
family will be appreciated. Be sure to check out all our compilations on
Chris Gaunt's home page:

		http://www-personal.umich.edu/~cgaunt

Several of our cousins have recently mentioned that our compilations are an
excellent tool in family research. We've had some success stories as a
result of all our sharing; but please remember this. Just because you found
the information in one of our compilations doesn't guarantee that it is 100%
correct. Verify, verify, verify.

Please ask questions when you find conflicting information. Some of us love
questions that cause us to ponder and dig through our information. It is
very easy to make an error when entering data into a database.

Thanks again to all the wonderful folks on our list who freely share family
information. Anyone want to guess when we will have compilation #250 ready?

Nyla,

Judy Hampton forwarded me this bounced message she got back from your old
email address at erols.com. I've deleted the headers from the bounce so
you can include just her message in the next compilation.

Judy, Nyla's new email address is NCreed1@aol.com.

Nyla,

I am looking for the parents of a William Turner who was in Fannin
County, TX in 1857 and had a child named Rebecca. William had the following
children William, Jr., Walter Scott, Alice and Rebecca. I know nothing about
his wife but the children were in the Jos(Jas) P Spence household in the 1860
census in Fannin County, TX. William, Jr., Walter and Alice were b. in
Virginia. This
is all I know about this family.

	Thanks, Judy Hampton

Woody--

Send a message to Ricky Burnett and/or June Bork via the group and ask
them about this. I first got the line from Ricky, who told me it was out
of one of June's books. I haven't firmed this up yet, but maybe they can
help.

With regard to downloading the files, try again, as the local server has
been having some trouble, and if you can't get them, let me know and I'll
send them to you on disk!

   Kevin.

Kevin,

We have been working on the Burnett genealogy for about five years,
and have not been able to establish any connection between George, in Prince
Edward Co., Va., and any one further back, such as Thomas. Could you tell
us how you documented Thomas so that we can add it to our files. We have
not been able to download the zip files and would appreciate any help.

Danny--

I have 18 William Burnett's in my database, and the only one that
I show had a connection to Tennessee is George William Burnett, son of
George Burnett and Dorothy Hardeman, and brother of Peter Hardeman
Burnett, the first Governor of California. Is it possible that his
father's name was also George William, and he was the one referred to in
the text you quote???

George (Sr.) was born in Pittsylvania County, VA., in 1770, and died in
Clay County, MO. His son, George William, was born in TENNESSEE, as was
Dorothy Hardeman.

Let's see if the group has any ideas about this!

Kevin,

I was wondering if you ever came across a William Burnett in Bedford
County, TN? The reason I ask is because I received a pension record for my
gggg-grandfather, Robert T Baird, for the War of 1812 and in it contains
the following:

"He declares that he is the identicle Robert Baird who was a sergent in the
Company commanded by Capt James Burnes in the first regiment of maunted
volunteers commanded by Robert H Dyes ? the war with the Creeks or
Simenoles Indians that he volunteered in Bedford County ? under William
Burnett of Bedford County..."

This was about 1817-1818. If not, do you think anyone on the Burnett list
might be interested?

By the way, I still have not forgotten about sending you a copy of the
pension record for Charles L Burnett (William2,James1). Will do this I hope
this weekend.

TTYL,

Danny

Subj:	Abednego Jackson Crawford

Does anyone have additional information on Abednego Jackson Crawford (born 13
July 1821), son of Nancy Turner who married Elisha Gilliam Crawford. Nancy
was the daughter of Shadrack Turner, born 1752 in VA and died 1820 in Lincoln
Co., GA. This information from a recent compilation, I believe 201.

I am trying to link an A. J. P. Crawford, who in an 1882 trial, referrred to
my great-great grandfather Absolom Turner as "old uncle Ab." A. J. P.
Crawford, at the time of the trial, was living in Henry Co., GA. In 1881, he
was working (and presumed to be living) in Meriwether County, GA.

Any clues will be much appreciated.
