think it would be interesting if we get to know a couple things about our

Eunice in her posting of the Francis Gilley line in Compilation 228 listed
the following information...
IV. Elizabeth Gilley, daughter of Francis, Sr. and Elizabeth Gilley. No dates
or records of her family. (married Richard "Dickie" Pilson)*
Pilson's family seems to be well documented and includes two wives from what
I have seen... Rachel Harbour married 30 July 1807 and Elizabeth Lewis
married 15 August 1852. Are Lewis and Gilley the same person? Have I read
an earlier posting wrong or did Elizabeth marry twice? Any suggestions?

First Generation
1. Richard "Dicky" William PILSON-802 was born 8 Jul 1783 in Patrick Co., VA.
He died 24 Feb 1859 in Elamsville, Patrick Co., VA and was buried in Richard
Pilson, Gravesite, Patrick Co., VA. Dicky dispersed 10 slaves in his will.
Richard married (1) Rachel HARBOUR-1571, daughter of Moses HARBOUR-1116 and
Nancy BRIDGES-1117 on 30 Jul 1807 in Patrick Co., VA. Rachel was born 1785.
She died 1851 in Patrick Co., VA.
They had the following children:
2 F i. Esther PILSON-1573 was born about 1805. She
died about 1873. Esther married (1) Paul C. ADAMS-1574. Paul was born about
1804. He died about 1882.
3 F ii. Nancy PILSON-1575 was born about 1808 in VA.
She died about 1857 in probably KY. Nancy married (1) Peyton Gabriel
JEFFERSON-1576. Peyton was born about 1807. He died about 1857 in probably
KY.
4 F iii. Elizabeth PILSON-1577 was born about 1810. She
died about 1887. Elizabeth married (1) James H. JEFFERSON-1578. James was
born about 1810. He died about 1880.
5 M iv. Moses PILSON-1579 was born about 1815. He died
in probably NC. Moses married (1) Rebecca KELLY-1580. Rebecca died in
probably
NC.
+ 6 M v. William "Buck" PILSON-800 was born 1820 and
died 1902.
7 F vi. Sabrinah PILSON-1616 was born about 1823. She
died about 1868. Sabrinah married (1) Peter SPENCER-1618. Peter was born

1827. He died about 1898 in probably NC. Richard married (1) Nancy Jane

this person once. All other lists do not include her.
Richard also married (2) Elizabeth LEWIS-7872 on 15 Aug 1852 in Patrick Co.,
VA.
Elizabeth died 1861 in Patrick Co., VA.

During a recent back up, then restore, my files got a bit out of whack.
Francis Gilley's daughter Elizabeth Gilley did NOT marry Richard Pilson.
I would have posted the rror sooner but have been checking the rest of the
Gilley files for any further errors. I'm very sorry, I do hope this has not
cause too much confusion.

Do you remember when we couldn't blame the computer when we "recreated" a
family? I combined a couple files recently. For some strange reason (??),
the computer did its own thing and made a disaster of my data. It was
definitely the computer, not operator error. <grin> Thank goodness I had
made backups before I started. Nyla

Sorry, I do not have any further on Matthew Corn's brothers other than
their listing in a 1970's Patrick - Henry Counties Allied Families
publication that I have. Possibly somebody else in our group may have
further or possibly June in her fantastic collection of info.

Nyla, How about setting up a poll. We deal so much with who our ancestors
are; I for one would like to know who we are. I know several members of
our group are "practicing" or real live genealogists and everyone should
know I am an architect trying to reach amateur genealogist status in my
spare time. So could you run a survey and post the results of what
everyone does ? No names, just profession or status. David
