Subject: William D. Young & Tarmesia Shelton
Nyla, What an excellent compilation! I've been trying to lay low on genealogy
for while, to spend time with Rachel b/c she was feeling second to my dead
folks. Once I get onto a new trail, I can't seem to let it go, so I've been
holding back those research urges!
However, I just HAD to ask a question about William D. Young & Tarmesia
Shelton. They are my g-g-grandparents. I recently found them on the Patrick Co
1850 census, where I found out about Harriet (although I did not know who she
married). I have been trying to learn more about Tarmesia's parents. I think I
have somewhere her father was Thomas Shelton and I have corresponded with a
number of Shelton researchers who always ask me the same question: are you
SURE you have Tarmesia's name correct?
There is no known Tarmesia Shelton. I knew it was the right name b/c it was
carried forward several generations. My father had an Aunt Nanny Tarmesia that
both he and my mom remember, so I knew it was correct. But your listing is the
first time I've seen her listed, other than what my mother and I have found.
Also, I cannot take William D. back a generation. This couple represent my
greatest mystery from my father's side of the family. Somewhere I have William
D.'s father may be James, but it was conjecture. I know he owned a store near
the Henry/Franklin line and he's buried on a farm there. Any info you might
have on this couple would be most appreciated--parents, siblings, anything.

Attached herewith is the total of the Corn information that I have at the
moment. All of it comes from the Patrick-Henry Allied Families printouts and

Instead of sending you my TURNER info, I thought I would send the GOODE info
I have recently put together. As you can imagine, all of these lines are
married back and forth and I have more Goodes listed than appear in this
tree. Most of this info comes from the Patrick- Henry Allied Families
printouts and from the book "History of Patrick and Henry Counties Virginia"
by Virginia G. Pedigo and Lewis G. Pedigo reprinted in 1990 and from
