I'm going to add to the mix. As Nettie stated, do NOT take MY file as
gospel truth. I submit it only for comparison to those already submitted.
Perhaps in the mix, we can sort out the problems with the lineage.
Genealogists with far more experience than me compiled these files and I
would have to bow to their knowledge.

     1. Stephen Wood b. cir 1700-1710, Virginia, m. cir 1730, in Virginia,
Ann Johnson, b. cir 1705, Virginia, (daughter of Joseph Johnson and
Mary
--------). Stephen died cir 1781, Virginia. Joseph Johnson of
Lunenburg Co., VA made deed of gift to a tract of land in Lunenburg Co.
in the year 1756 to his son-in-law, Stephen. Stephen left a will in
Lunenburg dated 1781, proved in 1782, wife Ann. Children mentioned were
John, Sally, David, Patsy, Johnson, and George. If Stephen were the
eldest son then he had probably already received his part of the estate
and would not have been mentioned. If this is correct, it would account
for both the John Wood, and Stephen Wood lines.

which was later a part of Floyd County. The county road running from
Charity Meeting House in Patrick Co. to Floyd Court House ran across
his
land and that portion was afterwards known as Wood's Gap. He and his

Co., VA. Henry died 1883. In the year 1836, Henry sold
his farm to his brother John Wood, and moved with his
family to Sullivan County, Illinois. The Deed is recorded
in Floyd County, VA. By comparing the deed with a copy of
the record of survey made in the year 1783 for their
grandfather, John Wood, it is clear that this was the same
parcel of land. It also seems clear that the Stephen Wood
and John Wood "lines" are the same, and that Stephen Wood
I, was the father of both men.
