Happy New Year to Everyone!

A big thanks to David for his updated Turner tree. If you haven't seen
information on your family, maybe it's up to YOU to send it my way so we all
know what families YOU are researching.

We are starting to get comments on David's Turner tree. So, send those
corrections, additions, and personal thoughts so we can resolve some of the
issues.

All our compilations are available for reading and downloading on Chris

David,

Happy New Year and thank you for all the hard work you put in. I also like
the fact you take chances. I firmly believe the James Turner of Bedford
line is kin to our Shadrach line (in fact, my grandmother Turner told my
father that many years ago), and I think it's a better than even chance
that we're kin to the Francis Turner line, although I've spoken with
excellent researchers who insist it can't be.

But your theory here just doesn't work, unfortunately. There are two
Shadrach's running around during this same time period. One is our
Shadrack, the other is from Prince George Co, MD and he was b ca 1726/8.
His parents were John Turner and Elizabeth Brashear. In fact, I feel
certain that our Shadrach was related to him. You will notice Brashear's in
Henry Co, VA around the time our Shadrach lived there. The MD Shadrach died
after ours, sometime after 1792. John and Elizabeth had the following
children (based on Elizabeth's will in 1794, PG Co, MD:

1) Sarah, b. 5-13-1719, d 1792

2) John, b. 3-3-1720, d. aft 1792
3) Samuel, b. 1722, unmarried
4) Elizabeth, b. 12-28-1723, m. William Goe
5) Ann, b. 10-15-1725, d. bef 1792, m. Hamilton
6) Shadrack, b. ca 1726/7, d. aft 1792
7) Philip, b. 6-19-1728, d. 1796
8) Rachel, b. 12-30-1730, d. aft 1792 unmarried
9) Dorcas, 5-13-1732, m. Joseph Walker

This information came from "Meshack Turner III--His wife--Sarah Robey
Tucker," by Lucille Maddox, p. 171. I also remember looking for some
confirmation of a MD Shadrack Turner when visiting the Roanoke library last
year. There are a few MD books there, and they do confirm a MD Shadrack.
Unfortunately, I did not make copies. I had planned to visit the Roanoke
library on Monday, but you all poured a bucket of snow on me, preventing my
plans. I had to come back up north, where there was hardly any of the white
stuff!

Also, I have poured over the Caroline Co court order records and made
copies of the Turner references. I do not see the clear-cut relationships
of which you speak. These records prove that Abednego, Meshack, Elizabeth
(Betty), Sarah and Ann are siblings. There has been some speculation that
Abednego's existence was uncertain. He chose a guardian with the rest of
them. [Caroline County, VA Order Book, 1740-1746, Part Three, 1744-1746,
Abstracted and Compiled by John F. Dorman, p. 5.] There are some definite
relationships drawn, but it's impossible, for me at least, to tell that the
Johns listed are the same Johns and the Richards are the same Richards.
Several Lewis' too. It's too bad they didn't have SS#s so that we could
make an exact determination!

But I do think you're thinking in the right direction to begin linking
James of Bedford and Shadrach of Henry!

Have a very merry new year!

Kathe:

Thanks for expressing your opinion. Maybe we can resolve some of these
problems now that folks are comfortable enough to share their views and
willing to take a risk to speak up whether they agree or disagree. I really
appreciate your commenting.

Hope you have the Best Year ever.

Your info is a little different from mine about some of the PACKWOOD"S, but I
may be wrong also, since I can't prove any of it.
Parrington PACKWOOD-Generation 6,part B, you don't have a no. beside him. I
have him as the son of Larkin & ? Henderson PACKWOOD,he was also brother to
James, Larkin Canada, & William Henderson Packwood.
William Henderson, also is the grandfather of former US Senator from Oregon-
Robert"Bob" William Packwood.
You probably already know all this , so thanks for all your hard work and I
hope I'm so smart on these facts someday.

Dear Eunice,

Small world! Although I am on Nyla's list for the BURNETT information, I am
also a descendant of STEPHEN WOOD and ANN JOHNSON/JOHNSTON through SARAH
(SALLIE) WOOD who married my Revolutionary War ancestor, CPL. WILLIAM JORDAN.
If you are interested in that line I will be glad to send you the descent.

My father was CHARLES ARCHER BURNETT. His mother was FANNIE ELIZABETH JORDAN
dau of EDWARD LELAND JORDAN, CSA of Rutherford County, Tennessee. He was the
great grandson of CPL WILLIAM JORDAN b. 5 October 1748 in Lunenberg County
Virginia. He married SARAH (SALLIE) WOOD in 1769 in Virginia and eventually
moved to Triune, Williamson County, Tn
b.1 Aug 1753, d. 1823.

Please let me know if you are interested in this line.

Sorry, I forgot to say this compilation (299) is the one where I found the
family of STEPHEN WOOD and realized his was the same one whose daughter SARAH
(SALLIE) WOOD married WILLIAM JORDAN my 6th great grandfather, whose great
great granddaughter, FANNIE ELIZABETH JORDAN m. JOSEPH LEE BURNETT.

Sorry for the previous omission.
