Thank you so much Judith, for that wonderful primary source information.
This is my family too. ARCHER JORDAN who witnessed JOHN WOOD'S WILL in
Tennessee was the son of WILLIAM JORDAN and SARAH (SALLIE) WOOD, John's
sister. I have a list of STEPHEN WOOD'S children and dates they were born if
you are interested. Also much about the Jordan family. Thanks for giving me
more WOOD information as I didn't have much at all. Was surprized to find they
were Primitive Baptists, the first I have run across in my line of mostly
Methodists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians and a few Quakers.

 Thanks,
Caroline Burnett Cook
descended from WILLIAM JORDAN and SALLIE WOOD like this:

ARCHER JORDAN b. 1770 Luenberg Co, Va m.1795 ELIZABETH WALKER dau of HENRY
WALKER and SUSANNA JEFFRIES of Va. Archer died in Williamson County, Tenn. 15
Sept 1835.
Their son:
DR. CLEMENT CHARLES JORDAN (1801-1888) m.MARTHA MATTEWS dau of JOHN MATTHEWS

I have a question regarding the following post:

<< 1.	John H. TURNER was born about 1762 in Halifax Co., VA. He
was the son of Meshack S. TURNER and Rebekah ROBERTSON. He
died 28 Apr 1825 in Columbia Co., GA. John married (1) Patsy
COLEMAN before 1800. Patsy died after 1825. They had the following
 children:
 	+	2 F	i.	Sarah TURNER was born bef 1800.
3 M	ii.	Stephen TURNER was born abt 1800 GA.
4 M	iii.	James S. TURNER was born abt 1800 GA.
5 M	iv.	D. Coleman TURNER was born about
 1800 in GA.
 	+	6 F	v.	___ TURNER was born about 1800.
 	+	7 M	vi.	John H. TURNER was born 1811.
8 F	vii.	Elizabeth M. TURNER was born about
 1817 in GA.
9 F	viii.	Martha TURNER was born abt 1820 GA.
+	10 M ix.	William Henry TURNER was born 1820
 and died 22 Jul 1903.

Does anyone have any info about child #6 listed as Female Turner, born about
1800? I have a hunch that she may be the Rebecca Turner who married Jonas
Byrd, Jr., my husband's gg-gparents. Anything would be appreciated.

I have just begun to search the MESHACK records and have found the following
documents in Wilkes Co., Ga:

TURNER, MESHACK, dec'd. David Ogletree, James and John Turner appointed
administrators Jan. 28, 1794. Edward Gresham, Asa Adkins and Edward Jones,
Sec. Returns Jan. 1797. Receipts of John, James, Rebecca, Shadrack, Meshack
and A.B. Turner, all say "the just sum of etc." David Ogletree says "in part
of my legacy." Receipts of Philip Wilhite and William Billingslea in part of
their legacies. Receipts of Elizabeth Pruitt May 10, 1794 "the just sum of
L12". Receipts of Willima Billingslea, Philip Wilhite, David Ogletree and
Meshack Turner 1798 "in part of my legacy." Paid James Turner trustee for Mr.
Foster, $28. Polly Turner orphan of Meshack Turner, dec'd, James Turner
guardian. Receipts of Owen Holliday April 19, 1800 to James for her legacy in
full, "now Polly Holliday."

TURNER, MESHACK dec'd. Warrant of appartment Feb. 1, 1808. Bird Pruett, John
Turner, and David Ogletree, administrators. Slaves George, Rachel, Will,
Piety, Moses, horses, household goods etc. Returns 1814 paid tax 1807, 1810,
1812. No legatees mentioned.

>From this I believe that Sarah daughter of MESHACK was married to William
Billingslea. James's daughter Sarah then married a Billingslea also according
to your records and perhaps a cousin?

Another question from Kathe Martin's post 98-01014 14:44:32 EST - indicates
that John Turner was married to Patsey Coleman. ? Was she the sister of Sarah
Coleman who married James Turner?

I need to do more research in the Wilkes Co., book and will look closer at the
Billingslea records when I next visit the Family History Center.

What do you think David or Brad or Kathe? Thanks for helping me sort this
out. My MESHACK line( ME, Ruby Stutts 8, Virginia Murray 7, Curtis Murray
6, Lewis Turner Murray 5, Evaline Turner 4, Lewis Turner 3, Shadrack Turner 2,
Meshack Turner 1.)

PS: David, I have some updates for your Evaline Turner/Sylvestor line with
sources. Just let me know what and how you want it.

Dear Nyla,

Yes I would like for you to add me to your list and I will check out the sight
that you sent me. I do have Turner's listed in my line but they are mainly
1804 and earlier in England. I have hopes of finding more information on
these people. Before I would post anything I will check out the site of the
compilation.

David:

I found 2 entries in Wilkes co., Ga records that are confusing:

1. LACY, ELIZABETH dec'd. Warrant of apprmt Nov. 2, 1807, John Turner,
administrator. Received of David Ogletree, excr Meshack Turner cash, part of a
note of hand against said est. Feb. 1811 ?Would she have died bef. 11-2-1807?

2. ELIZABETH PRUITT received 2 draws on the 1805 Land Lottery. ?Elisha must
have died before 1805.?

3. In her fathers Estate record (1794) she is referred to as Elizabeth Pruitt
with no mention of Elisha. ? does this mean he must have died before 1794?

Your record: "3. F ii. Elizabeth TURNER-7043 was born about 1754 in VA. She
died 2 Nov. 1807 in Wilkes Co., GA. Elizabeth married (1)____LACY-7069
____was born about 1754. Elizabeth also married (2) Elisha PRUITT-7070 before
1794. Elisha was born about 1754 in VA. He died before 1893.

Please help me sort this out. Is there any other information on Elizabeth?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Attached to here is an ASCII text file containing the index to the first eight
generations of TURNERs we just ran.. It keys by individual number and
generation to the lists. It is only 110,000 bytes or so but takes me about 96
pages to print out single column in 12 point text..... SOOOO .... I don't
know if it can be sent in one email or several or what... You can just offer
it and send it on request if you want ... Your call

Have you heard any more regarding the early Turner lineage? I'd really like
to see the order book records cited for Richard Turner. That would
convince me to abandon my Scot search and accept that Shadrach was from
England.

======================
Eunice: Did I hear you correctly? I don't remember receiving those records,
but there has been a lot of eMail traffic lately. I could have missed it
completely.

Folks: If you send me information that doesn't get put into a compilation,
let me know about it. It would be an oversight on my part. Sometimes I read
the message and get interrupted and forget to mark it for adding to the next
compilation. I bet no one on this list ever forgets, but me.

I recently told my cousin that I have Sometimers Disease. In case you're not
familiar with this disease, let me give you a brief explantion. Sometimes I
remember....Sometimes I forget....But I always remember the things I should
forget.
