Hello to Everyone,

A special welcome to all the new cousins. If you have not done so
already, check out Chris Gaunt's homepage where all our compilations are

I am researching Turner's in my line, I can go back to 4th grandfather
Turner In Vt, His name was Elisha Turner I, served in the Rev. War, in a Vt
regiment. Unable to locate his place or date of birth, parents or siblings.
I have a cousin who has been researching this guy for 20 years. There are
at least two lines of Turner's from MA to CT who have Elisha Turner's from
the 1630's to the 1800's but does anyone have an Elisha Turner who served in
the Rev. WAR from Hartland, Royalston, Ripton and later lived in Middlebury,
Vt as did his son and many of my ancestors up to the present day. I have
been there cannot find him before the 1780's. In the 1790 census he was in
Hartland, Vt. because he had a son named Elisha Turner and a grandson named
Elisha Turner, all in Vt it is difficult to ascertain which one it was. I
have found gravesite and seen it for the second Elisha Turner who first
married Penelop Jones and second Olive Bannister, he is buried beside his
second wife. Elisha Turner I, m. Betsey Patterson in Hartland Vt in the
1790's, from all I have checked there is a better that a 80/20 chance he
descends from Humphrey Tuiner m. Lydia Gamer (there are also dau. through the
gen. to 1900's whereby dau. were named Lydia Turner, as was a grandaunt of
mine). Well, enough, does anyone have information on this.

Subject: Burnett/Turner family trees

Hello!
I got your email address from a message I posted on the Family Tree
Maker Online Website. Apparently you may have information on the Burnett
family to which I am related. I think it's likely, because one of my
family members, Eliza Burnett, married a George Turner in Moultrie County,
Illinois in about 1860, and the message reply to mine mentioned Burnett and
Turner families. Are we related?
I've done research on the Burnett family that dates back to about 1750,
so I'd be very glad to share what I have with you, if we are related. The
earliest member I've found so far is a Samuel Burnett, who was probably from
Virginia. His son, James C. Burnett, bought 350 acres of land in Shelby
County, Kentucky, beginning in 1808, and I am descended from James' son,
Pryor, who moved to Owen County, Indiana, near the village of Cataract.
Let me know if you're a member of this family, and I'll want to
exchange info with you (I have some old pictures, too, and possibly one of
Eliza Burnett Turner).

                         Thanks!!
                         Kevin K. Stephenson
===================================

KEVIN, As much as I'd like to find anothr long-lost cousin, I don't think
we're related. There seem to be several Burnett and Turner families that
are closely related. My ancestors lived in Patrick Co VA and then up to
Raleigh Co VA (now WV). But I feel certain one of the subscribers to our
list has to be kin to you. Let's see who it is going to be?
