Thanks for this...every little bit helps...do you have anything to add
concerning the James Burnett who was listed as a son of John Sr.? I've seen
him mentioned only once as being in that family line, and all the other
people who talk about John Sr. and Elizabeth Tait don't mention him at all.
Also, is the Polly Burnett who was married to John Mack the same Polly
Burnett who was married to a Packwood? Was she married more than once?
There is mention of some of her Packwood children being born in Kentucky (no
specific county), and according to Ricky's research, John Mack's wife was
Polly Burnett...same or different?
Is there anyone available who could determine in the Pittsylvania County
records when James C. Burnett was born, and who his parents were? I'd still
love to know if there is a link between him and John Sr., now that we have
him linked to that area. I need to sit down with the info you just sent on
Peter's line, and see if we already have a tie somewhere in this info...will
do that tonight. Am I correct in assuming that up to this point, no one has
tied Peter H. to John Sr.'s family?

If we are successful in tying James C. Burnett to the Patrick/Henry county
Burnett's , I'll send you what I have on that line. There's been some
mention made of Burnett's in eastern Illinois, and my tree may extend in
that direction, including another Burnett-Turner link in Moultrie County,
Illinois. As I mentioned previously, Eliza Burnett married George H. Turner
at Mattoon in 1860, and from a conversation I had with Sharon Crawford,
there may be secondary connections to your Burnett's there...still checking.

For next compilation:
Folks, in compilation #41, there was more Burnett info than I've seen in a
while! I've been trying to link up my family (John Greenberry Burnett) who
was born in Sullivan County, TN 1810 with this family in Patrick County.
Family lore says my John's father (also named John or Berry) went hunting and
disappeared -- I don't know about the whole story but the "disappeared" part
is certainly true.
John G's census records later indicate his parents were from VA. I'm
wondering if the Greenberry as a middle name could be a clue... Perhaps his
mother's maiden name? Grasping at straws ... Gary

Have papers for Application of Pension, dated May 1929, for a John J
Burnett, b. abt. 1845 in Bedford Co. VA. John lived in Guyman,Texas Co.
OK when he filed. Also have birth certificates for Cora Ann Burnett, b.
Dec.9,1922 to C.L and Lilly Perry Burnett and Virginia Burnett, b. Mar.
31, 1921 to John and Allene Boardman Burnett, both born in Pontotoc Co.
OK. If any of these our your Burnetts, I'll be happy to snail mail them

Am I right that we are from the same line of Burnetts? Cornelius S. and
Nancy Wallace Burnett's son,> William H. Burnett b.Feb.5,1843 KY, son >
Lon Franklin Burnett, b.March 30, 1883 AR., son > Levert Buel Burnett,
daughter, > Sharon Burnett Crawford. Sometimes I read that Cornelius
Burnett Jr. was Cornelius S. Burnett's father and Cornelius Burnett Sr.
was his grandfather, but also seen where John Burnett Sr was is
grandfather.
So I still not real clear on this but I figure if Cornelius S. Burnett
was the grandson of Cornelius Burnett Sr. his name would have been
listed along with Cornelius Jr., other children in the Will of Cornelius
Sr. dated 1833. I sent a list of Cornelius S. Burnett children into
Burnett/Turner.
