Nyla,

You already have all of my information pertaining to the
Hunter/Turner line. Last Saturday I was at the Va. Lib. Assoc.
meeting here at the Marriott and saw a name tag with Turner. She
was from Henry Co. and said that she thought her husband had a
Hunter in his line. I gave her your email address and mine, but I
haven't heard anything yet (and I can't remember her first name -
Martha maybe?).

Hi Kurt,

This is what I have on Richard Nowland (Nowlin), although I maybe
wrong. Jeremiah Burnett 11, born abt 1740, d. bef.1818 (was the
son of Jeremiah and Mary McDaniel of Essex Co. VA.) He married
Rosa ?. Jeremiah,11 and Rosa had a daughter by the name of Mary
(Polly) Burnett, b. abt.1779. Mary (Polly) Burnett married
Richard Nowland June 3, 1796 in Patrick Co. VA. I know of one
son, James Nowland born abt. 1797.

Hope this is some use to you, hope you'll take Nyla's suggestion
and send in your family line, would be very interested in it.

Hello everyone,

I am printing and keeping for future use all of the
compilations. I appreciate them very much. However, I'm having
trouble pushing my Turners back more than three generations.
I am adopted, however, I've know since I was able to
know anything that my birth name was Turner. After my adoptive
parents passed away, I felt free to pursue my birth roots. I have
gone great guns on my mother's side (Purcell), but the Turner
side has come a lot slower. I had my adoption papers unsealed and
eventually sent away to Arkansas to get my father's birth
certificate.
Here is what I know so far. My father, Robert Ray Turner,
was born on Aug. 3, 1914 in Lavaca (Sebastian Co.), Arkansas. In
the adoption papers, he refers to his own nationality as
Scots-Irish, German and (American) Indian.
Through his birth certificate, I learned his parents
were Hugh Turner, b. approx. 1893 in Arkansas and Essie Nicely,
b. approx. 1895 in Arkansas. And there it sits.
I could not find them in the 1920 census. I'm
consulting the 1910 census next week for my grandparents as
children. Maybe that will help.
But what I'm looking for now is something to help
jumpstart my search.
My father may still be alive. I haven't found him in the
death index. I have no wish to meet him or anything. But I'd like
to roll back those roots a few more generations. If these folks
sound familiar, or if you have any Turners from the northwest
corner of Arkansas, please let me know.
           Thanks a million,

            Jim (Abinadab@aol)

I actually have two Via lines. The first one is through Amer Via
born sometime in mid 1600's and married Margaret. They were in
New Kent Co., Va and Albemarle Co., Va. This line then goes
through their daughter Margaret Via who married Gabriel Maupin.

My second Via line starts with Micajah Via (supposedly a nephew
of Margaret's) who was born ca. 1740 and married ______ Burnett.
This line then continues through Jane Via b. 1765 who married
Daniel Maupin.

Do you want me to contact other Via researchers and let them know
about the home page?

Nyla,
Chris Gaunt sent me the information on your Turner Burnett
newsletter. Please add me to your list. I have Turner
connections through James Turner Sr by both his son James and his
daughter Molly. In a different family line, I have Elizabeth
Burnett married to William Harris. I did download the note
compliations for 2/20/1996 and found your note that she was the
the daughter of John Burnett II and Amy Gatewood and the
granddaughter of John Burnett I.

This was new information for me although I suspected that she was
the daughter of one of John Burnett I sons due to proximitry,
etc. Will look forward to the letter.
