Here is my listing of the PILSON family from Patrick and Henry
Counties Virginia. Hope everyone can find something

Descendants of Richard PILSON
First Generation
1. Richard PILSON died after 1776. Richard came to Augusta Co.
VA prior to 1745. He is first listed in Augusta Co. records with
the baptism of two of his children in 1747 and 1748. He is
listed as purchasing 330 acres in 1753 from William Beverley. In
1764, he moved across the mountain to Albemarle County, VA where
he purchased 224 acres from John Kinkaid. In 1776, he sold
the last of his property in Augusta Co., VA to George Caldwell.
He had the following children:
+ 2 M i. William PILSON died after 1812.
+ 3 M ii. Samuel PILSON was born 1739 and died
about 1823.
+ 4 M iii. Richard PILSON was born about 1745 and
died about 1799.
+ 5 F iv. Mary PILSON was born about 1747 and died
about 1789.
+ 6 M v. Robert PILSON was born about 1755 and
died about 1810.
Second Generation
2. William PILSON died after 1812. William was from Augusta
County, VA. William married (1) Esther TURNER. They had the
following children:
+ 7 M i. Richard "Dicky" William PILSON was born
1780 and died 24 Feb 1859.
3. Samuel PILSON was born 1739. He died about 1823. Samuel, at
age 68, along with some of his family moved to Adams Co., Ohio in
1807. Samuel married (1) Mary HUTCHINSON. They had the following
children:
8 M i. Samuel PILSON. Samuel, along with his
father and family moved to Adams Co., Ohio in 1807.
9 M ii. George PILSON. George and Elizabeth had
five children. George married (1) Elizabeth THOMPSON, daughter of
Matthew THOMPSON.
10 M iii. John PILSON. John lived in Albemarle
County, Virginia where he was a magistrate and operated a store.
He did not marry.
11 F iv. Eleanor PILSON. Eleanor, along with her
father and other family members moved to Adams Co., Ohio in 1807.
Samuel also married (2) Polly Jane WRIGHT. They had the
following children:
12 M v. William PILSON died in OH. William moved
to Adams Co., Ohio along with his father and other family members
in 1807.
4. Richard PILSON was born about 1745 in Augusta Co., VA and
was christened 1747 in Tinkling Spring, Church, Augusta Co., VA.
He died about 1799. About 1764 Richard and his wife moved to
Pittsylvania County, Virginia where they lived for about 12
years. In 1776 they sold this land and moved to Patrick
County, VA. They purchased land on Smith River near Woolwine,
Virginia. Richard married (1) Elizabeth ___. They had the
following children:
13 F i. Mary PILSON.
14 F ii. Margaret PILSON.
15 M iii. Richard PILSON.
5. Mary PILSON was born about 1747 in Augusta Co., VA and was
christened 1748 in Tinkling Spring, Church, Augusta Co., VA. She
died about 1789. Mary married (1) William WALLACE on 1771.
They had the following children:
16 M i. William WALLACE was born in Albemarle
Co., VA.
17 M ii. Richard WALLACE was born in Albemarle
Co., VA.
18 F iii. Hannah WALLACE was born in Albemarle
Co., VA.
19 M iv. Samuel WALLACE was born in Albemarle
Co., VA.
20 F v. Mary WALLACE was born in Albemarle Co.,
VA.
21 M vi. Michael WALLACE was born in Albemarle
Co., VA.
22 F vii. Elizabeth WALLACE was born in Albemarle
Co., VA.
23 M viii. John WALLACE was born in Albemarle
Co., VA.
6. Robert PILSON was born about 1755 in Augusta Co., VA. He
died about 1810. Robert and his wife lived in Patrick County,
Virginia then Bourbon County, Kentucky and eventually Ohio.
Robert married (1) Agnes MCCLURE on 1782. They had the following
children:
24 M i. Hugh PILSON.
25 F ii. Ann PILSON.
26 F iii. Polly PILSON.
27 M iv. Richard PILSON.
Third Generation
7. Richard "Dicky" William PILSON was born 1780 in Albemarle
or, Patrick Co., VA. He died 24 Feb 1859 in Elamsville, Patrick
Co., VA. Richard married (1) Rachel HARBOUR, daughter of Moses
HARBOUR and Nancy BRIDGES. Rachel was born 1785/1789. She died
1851. They had the following children:
28 F i. Esther PILSON was born about 1805. She
died about 1873. Esther married (1) Paul C. ADAMS. Paul was born
about 1804. He died about 1882.
29 F ii. Nancy PILSON was born about 1808. She
died about 1857 in probably KY. Nancy married (1) Peyton G.
JEFFERSON. Peyton was born about 1807. He died about 1857 in
probably KY.
30 F iii. Elizabeth PILSON was born about 1810.
She died about 1887. Elizabeth married (1) James H. JEFFERSON.
James was born about 1810. He died about 1880.
31 M iv. Moses PILSON was born about 1815. He
died in probably NC. Moses married (1) Rebecca KELLY. Rebecca
died in probably NC.
+ 32 M v. William "Buck" PILSON was born 1820 and
died 1901.
33 F vi. Sabrinah PILSON was born about 1823. She
died about 1868. Sabrinah married (1) Peter SPENCER. Peter was
born about 1822. He died about 1902.
34 M vii. Richard Turner PILSON was born about
1827. He died about 1898 in probably NC. Richard married (1)
Nancy Jane JOYCE. Nancy was born about 1832. She died about 1900
in probably NC.
35 F viii. Pattie PILSON. I can only find
reference to this person once. All other lists do not include
her.
Fourth Generation
32. William "Buck" PILSON was born 1820. He died 1901. William
married (1) Elizabeth "Betsy" HARBOUR, daughter of James HARBOUR
and Hannah NOWLIN. Elizabeth was born about 1820. She died about
1907. They had the following children:
36 F i. Louvienna PILSON was born about 1844.
She died about 1931. Louvienna married (1) Moses Peter
JEFFERSON. Moses was born about 1843. He died about 1928.
37 F ii. Ellen L. PILSON was born about 1845. She
died 1909. Ellen married (1) Benjamin D. CONWAY. Benjamin was
born about 1842. He died about 1902.
+ 38 M iii. Virgil Reed "Byrd" PILSON was born 1847
and died 1885.
39 F iv. Nancy PILSON was born about 1849. She
died about 1938.
+ 40 M v. John Rufus "Birch" PILSON.
41 M vi. Dallas C. PILSON was born about 1854. He
died about 1893. Dallas married (1) N. Ellen PENDLETON. N. Ellen
PENDLETON was born about 1853. She died about 1937.
42 F vii. Mary Etta PILSON was born about 1859.
She died about 1943. Mary married (1) John T. PENDLETON. John was
born about 1856. He died about 1939.
Fifth Generation
38. Virgil Reed "Byrd" PILSON was born 1847. He died 1885.
Virgil married (1) Jane LAW. Jane was born about 1850. She died
about 1874. They had the following children:

44 M ii. William C. PILSON. William married (1)
Ethel CRADDOCK.
45 F iii. Bettie PILSON. Bettie married (1) Sam
WILLIAMS.
Virgil also married (2) Lucinda M. ROSS, daughter of Samuel
Anderson ROSS and Esther Jane HARBOUR. Lucinda was born 23 Feb
1853. She died 26 Mar 1902. They had the following children:
46 M iv. Samuel James PILSON was born 1877 in
Patrick Co., VA. Samuel married (1) Pencie SMITH.
47 M v. Virgil Rufus PILSON was born 1879 in
Patrick Co., VA. Virgil married (1) Sarah Jane LAWLESS. Sarah was
born 31 Oct 1886.
48 F vi. Lily Ester PILSON was born 13 Apr 1882
in Elamsville, Patrick County, VA. Lily married (1) King David
COX on 25 Apr 1904. King was born 1883. He died 1912.
49 M vii. Green Lee PILSON was born 1884. Green
married (1) Fosie Alice SMITH on 1912.
+ 50 M viii. Thomas Cleveland PILSON was born 25
May 1885.
40. John Rufus "Birch" PILSON. John married (1) Permelia Ruth
STOVALL, daughter of Joseph Madison STOVALL and Permelia CORN on
21 Oct 1879. Permelia was born 7 May 1862 in Patrick Co., VA. She
died 1953. They had the following children:
51 M i. Frank PILSON.
Sixth Generation
50. Thomas Cleveland PILSON was born 25 May 1885 in Patrick Co.,
VA. Thomas married (1) Lucy E. STEPHENS on 22 Aug 1909 in Patrick
Co., VA. Lucy was born 22 Mar 1890 in Patrick Co., VA. They had
the following children:
52 M i. Thomas Alfred PILSON was born 20 Jun
1910 in Philadelphia, PA. Practicing lawyer. Thomas married (1)
Verabel Elaine MASON on 4 Jun 1934. Verabel was born 21 Dec 1915
in Wimbledon, ND.
