Jim Spencer and John Turner, would you pleeeaaaasssse, post your information
on the John and Nancy Burnette Turner family to the list?

For over 20 years I have been trying to find the parents of my William Green
Turner, born Feb or April 1829 or 1830, who married Mary Jane Vaughan in
Patrick County, VA on 26 Dec 1850. Some researchers suggest he was the son
of William and Elizabeth Philpott Turner, but his birth year does not fit
with the known children of this couple.

The Adam Turner Family Bible lists a William born "William Green Turner
April 18?5 (For William, the April, 18 and 5 are clear. His listing is
between 1822 and 1832.(Referring to other Bible entries) I'm assuming his
birth year is 1825." Reference: Ann Nolen Hughes

According to census records, my William Green Turner gave his month of birth
as April.

I've had my suspicions that my William Green may have been a grandchild of
Adam and Mary Pilson Turner, but have no proof.

If this fails, then my other suspicions will be correct, my William Green
Turner was either "hatched" or dropped by aliens. After 20 some years, I'm
open to anything!!

Thank you,
Romona

Romona... if the above scenario is correct:
Then this William was born abt 1825, son of William Turner and Elizabeth
Philpott, grandson of William Turner and Jane Hunter.

There is viable justification for grandfather being 'William A Turner, Sr' and
following 'William A Turner, Jr' with the middle name being Andrew for both...
after Jane Hunter's father Andrew Hunter. However I don't know if this naming
scheme is at this time proven.

The Green Turner of Adam Turner/Pilson lineage doesn't, at least per my records,
look like a good fit.

Romona... see if this helps any.
If this is your William then believe he belongs to Shadrack lineage
In paper database have the Feb data... computer abt 1825.
The paper I would trust to be more accurate. But as always I swear to naught
However with all said and done, if your William married Mary Jane Vaughn then it
would be Shadrack forgiving any error in DOB

WILLIAM GREEN12 TURNER
was born 03 Feb 1830 in Henry Co Va, and died 14 Jan 1904 in Patrick Co Va.
He married MARY JANE VAUGHN 26 Dec 1850 in Patrick Co Va.

Served in Company "B", 57th Regiment, Confederate Army.
Wrote home in March of 1865, described very poor conditions. Little or
nothing to eat and many desertions.

Hi, Folks,

Some of you may have received an attachment if your email program/ISP
modifies the messages you receive -- AOL does this for messages over a
certain size - they send part of the message and then put the rest of the
message in an attachment for you to download. I received no attachment.

Usually the digest is *much* smaller, but for some reason it accumulated
for over a month before I noticed it hadn't been sent out. Sorry!

Hi, Robert

You don't really have a resource to register, but you may want instead to
post your message to one of the many mailing lists for genealogy. You may
want to check out the following site:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html

There are a ton of lists -- you may want to look for a Turner list, or a
Maine list for Randolph county. I'm also Cc'ing to a list I maintain,
called BTRVETC-L, which deals with a bunch of families fro the Patrick
County, VA area, and among them are Turners.

Good luck,

I do not have any one in my line by the name of William R. Burnett.
However, my GGGG Grandfather (Joseph Burnett) was born in 1750, Buckingham,
Buckingham Co, Virginia. Given that the Burnett name only originated in
Scotland, it would seem that there is a good chance that all of the
Burnett's in VA were probably related. Somewhere along the way, I believe
my GG Grandfather Zachariah Burnett moved to Cumberland or Knox Co., TN.
One of Zachariah's brothers was named William M. Burnett, but William was a
fairly common name. If you want, I can email you a gedcom file with what I
have, but it sounds like the link (if one exists) may have been to an
ancestor of your William. Good luck.

Also, if anyone is interested in my Great Grandfather Elisha Douglas Gibson
Burnett (b. 1839,d 1910) I have info regarding Virgil (one of his sons)
descendants. Virgil was my Grandfather (b. 1884, d. 1941). Virgil married
Gertrude Jackson Nail (daughter of Isaac Roberson Nail and Mary Isabel
Dugger). This particular link merges the Nail/Dugger/Burnette/Adams lines -
all in and around Eastern Tennessee in the 1800's.

George,

I would very much like to have a copy of your gedcom file on the
Burnett(e)'s. Even if I can not make a connection now, maybe in the future
it will come in handy.

Thanks so much for responding to my posting and good luck in your search!
Anne
