? Am I correct when I include this in the information for Meshack Turner son
of Meshack and Rebecca Robinson? If so does anyone know his actual death
date?

Page 160 - ECHOLS, JOHN of Halifax Co., Va., declares he sold to

So you're now off the hook! What on earth will you do now? Jump right into
something else, probably!

The gifts I'd like to give to you are:
A long leisurely bubble bath, followed by,
Your favorite meal, a bottle of champagne, or wine of choice.
and about 14 hours of sleep uninterupted by thoughts of,
"I've got to get up and get that list out!"

I know how hard you've worked for us, how tired you must have gotten at
times, and it must be a great relief now to pass the burden to someone else.
I know there must be some sadness there too, after all, this was your baby,
you began it, nurtured it, and watched it grow.

You done good, Nyla! Thank you for all that work, and may God bless you.

Hi, Folks,

It's *still* Nyla's baby, only now it's going to school (or some similar
analogy). :-)

I visited the Library of Congress Web site and discovered that I could download a copy of "Recollections of an Old Pioneer"
by Peter H. Burnett. The first chapter has a lot of interesting Burnett and Hardeman family history. I'm excited to have the
book on a disk. I am not sure that the genealogy information is accurate but the observations about each family is neat.

Hi, Folks,

I'm sorry to report to you that getting off the Digest version of the
BTRVETC-L list is somewhat difficult as the list software is not
recognizing the email addresses in the distribution list. Sigh! Thought
things were going too smoothly!

I'm not quite sure what the cause is, but have started by checking for
extra spaces after each address entry. Sometimes the editors used by DOS
machines add unnecessary stuff.

I have the list configured so that it emails me when someone tries to get
on or off either version of the list. If I see that the software hasn't
done its thing, I'll do it manually and email you that I've done so.

Hope to find the cause soon,
Chris

Hi Nyla

Gee Whiz! What Happened! I signed off the list for a month, and you
accelerated. Need more eyes and hands to just catch up. Glad to see
the list moving along. The credit goes to you and David. David has
been a real help in separating into their correct places, our Turner's
Ross's, Burnett's, Via's, and etc.

More power to you both. Have gone to Chris's archives and printed out
(took a bit of time) the lists I have missed, and that happened in one
month. ;) Glad to be back.

Evelyn: A lot certainly has happened in a month. And when we're recognizing
the people who deserve thanks, we must remember all the wonderful people who
share so generously of their genealogy research. Where would we be without
them? And how about the folks who read every compilation and asked questions
when we had discrepancies.  A big thanks to Chris who did all our archiving;
Kevin who zipped the files for us; and of course, David who kept the family
database feed with new data. (Although at times, I secretly wished that
David's computer would "burp" so he couldn't send me another generation
report. And why did David always find my mistakes?) I especially appreciate
the new folks who jumped right in and made themselves right at home; and I
like those cousins who sat on the bleachers for months before they finally
told us who they were. I really appreciate those genealogy jokes and poems we
receive. It adds a special flavor to the group. And, I appreciate the
patience of the folks who have stayed with us for months and months and have
not been yet made a connection to their line. They deserve a special award
for patience. And I enjoy teasing Eunice when she says our Turners were
Scottish when I know we must be English. It's folks like Each and Everyone
of You who make this list what it is. And I thank you all. You have each
enriched my life. God Bless You All. Nyla

Of course. I want to work on my Raleigh Co WV families, as well as my
Tazewell Co VA families, and seriously work on the Burnett-Turner-Ross-Via
families.

And grow it did. It outgrew my capability. And it deserves to have a chance

wait to learn what Kevin has planned for our family TREE project. Yes, I
nurtured it and watched it grow; but the time has come to let it go, and see
how much more it can grow.

Chris:

You've done a great job. I don't know how much time you've devoted to this
since I asked for help, but it is obvious that you've spent a bunch of time
setting this up. Really nice job.

Just remember, I'm here to help if you ever need me. Should this get to be
too much for you, let me know. I'll loan you my scissors and glue stick.
<smile> Nyla

P.S.
Seriously, this is absolutely wonderful. Thank you.

My Burnett (Elizabeth specifically) was in middle TN as Caroline Burnett
was looking for, but went to north Arkansas with her husband Albert G. Stroud
instead of to Alabama. She was born in 1820 in TN and died c1860 Izard Co AR.
She married in 1835 in Warren Co TN. Does this look familiar to anyone?

Sincerely Yours, Carolyn Casey

Nyla and gang!
I'll be checking into the tree formats that Chris mentioned, and hopefully I'll be able to get it up on my website.
Anyone who has a "piece" of it to submit, please drop me a line and we'll get it coordinated.
I would like either Family Tree Maker 4.0 or .ged files so that I can link them when the time comes...

Nyla,

I can only imagine the time and effort keeping this group going has taken.
You have done a terrific job. THANKS !!!! The idea of automating things
is at once appealing and sad. Improved access sounds good but losing the
human touch will be missed. I got in near the beginning of the list and
have enjoyed the information sharing. I got a lot of insights and useful
information and I hope I made some small contribution to someone's
research. It is hard to believe that this thing has grown to nearly 350
compilations. That is quite an accomplishment. Thanks again for doing all
of the work that made this possible.

About the compilation of the tree. How do we contribute? I only have a
small part starting with Admire Turner and the branch that ended up in
Kansas with Washington and Owen Turner but I would be willing to submit it.
How and where?

While I am at it I would like to thank David for all of the work he did
recently. Those compilations were of great interest.

Keep in touch,
Bob
