Welcome to all our new subscribers; please send us a message to let us
know what lines you are working on. :-)

We became automated 19 Jan 1998, with everyone that had been on Nyla Creed
DePauk's list of subscribers being subscribed to the digest, which (kind)
replaces the compilations. There is also a regular list, where you
receive messages one at a time. If you wish that version, unsubscribe
from the digest, and subscribe to the regular list (see below).

Please do not send your emails to Nyla any longer; if you do, she will
send them to the list. Please post your messages to:

Kathy... have you had chance to check "Complied" flies, or "Digests" at
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~cgaunt/etc/etc.html
Four clicks down you should see "Compiled Files"... there's lots of
Burnetts in there, can't believe one of them isn't yours. If no luck
there, post a note on the list to Carole, or CarBurCo@aol.com. I'm sure
she can point you to information your Burnetts.

Hi
I am fairly new to the list. I joined it because it has Burnetts.
Don't think any of mine are on here, but it was nice to see June on this
list. We corresponded years ago before email when you had to do it the
old fashion way and then wait and wait for your answer. Anyway the
reason I am writing. Someone wrote in about Turners in Maryland, I
have a book 'The Boston Family of Maryland" there is a few Turners
listed in it and I would be happy to look for any of your Turners,
just give me a name and date if you have it. Kathy Burnett

:-) According to the family history of James Dougherty, the Hamilton
family was living at Ramsey in the year 1779.
Schuyler Hamilton owned a part of the Richard Smith Grant at Ramsey.
Unto Schuyler and Susannah Hamilton was born seventeen children. Among
these was Louis, Loucinda, and Lucy who were triplets.
When the triplets were born old Schuyler was out in the field plowing an
old horse called "Kit" and one of the other children came running out and
said "Paw, theres a new baby up at the house." "Alright, get up Kit," he
said. Soon the child came again and said theres another baby up at the
house Paw." "Alright, get up Kit." he said again. Soon the child came
running back again and said, "There is still another baby up at the house
Paw." "Whoa Kit," he said. "I'll be jobbed if I don't go up there and put
a stop to that."

Franklin is getting to be a site to frequent for raw data. Seem to be
trying to make real effort to get data of the type most buffs can
utilitize

http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/va/franklin.htm

Tip for those using IE4 browser... when adding to your "favorites" you
have an option to select "notify of changes", some words to that effect.
Choosing this option will generate an email advising you when site has
been modified, which generally means new data posted. Great little
tool, try it!

Tip Win98 OS... The "WordPad.Exe" therein is a new version. Problem,
this tool is buggy (so what's new). Code changes resulted in "extreme
slowdown in loading time". Inability to load text or *.rtf files larger
than 2meg or so. Backup the W98 WordPad.Exe (safey first!) and replace
same with "WordPad.Exe" from W95. No other files need to changed or
modified. This will cure and resolve all problems with Wordpad!

Here's one I'd like to find... I know Anita has been looking for this
dude for some time. Anybody that asks for help and offers help in the
same breath you gotta like. And certainly she's no poor researcher in
her own right, so don't think it will be an easy job. Now I can vouch
for the fact that's she has plowed ground for a year now, so she ain't
lazy. I would really like to see if we could solve this one as a team.
I have her okay to repost her's to me... I think she has more of the
lineage if we need it, so if you need more just ask and she'll put it on
the list. Now, I'm not suggesting everybody jump in their car and run
to the Courthouse Moday morning... rather, there has to be gigs and gigs
of database at this table, and maybe one of us has the thread she
needs...

Don, could you see if the "Harper's Ferry, Maryland" can offer
anything... Yeah I know, really gave you a lot to work with! :=)

Eunice was it Patrick or Bedford that we find all those Quaker Families?
Remember big chat on which way the creek flowed in front of one of the
meeting house. Now that's what I call "DOCUMENTATION"

Anita... That name "Beeson" suggest alternate spellings, got any more on
that? When finish here, I'll check the GenList for "email site" Beeson
and Beason.

And do we have a WildCat fan who might field some questions for
Kentucky? If so, please gives a name and email dodad, bust size...
oops! (gotta take that "Clinton Campain Sticker" off my monitor)

And any better ideas would be appreciated!

==========================
"In answer to your query of which Turner clans are represented - my
group
supposedly started in VA, but I can only vouch for Thomas Turner (born
1794,
Harper's Ferry, VA) and Hannah Carson (born 1797, Harper's Ferry, VA) in
Butler County, KY in early 1820's. They had a whole clan of Turners,
who
scattered to LA, TX (Mostly) and CA - also some to AR.

****** This is what we after Folks *******
My brick wall is with Thomas and his father, who was William Turner,
supposedly killed by Indians on
his way to KY in 1796, when Thomas was a toddler.
********************************************

Don't know anything about Thomas' mother. Thomas was taken in and
raised by a Quaker family by the name
of Beeson. That's absolutely as far back as I can go, no matter what
I've tried. I'll be glad to send any other information that might be
helpful and would dearly love to meet up with anyone else working on
this group.

Here's more on the immediate family of Thomas and Hannah:

Thomas TURNER (b. 1794) married Hannah CARSON (b. 1797) (daughter of
James
Beatty CARSON) in Harper's Ferry, VA in 1818. They moved to Butler
County, KY
and had the following children:

James William (b 1819?) mar. Elisabeth SMITH
David Carson mar. Mary PORTER
Benjamin mar. Rebecca ????
Hamilton Beatty ( b 1821) mar. Mary Caroline PARKS
John Smith (Jack) (b 1827) mar. (1) Matilda SWEATT, (2) Susan Frances
REEKS
Edward Carroll (b 1831) mar. (1) Mary McMILLAN, (2) Margaret Susan
MANSFIELD
Susanna (b 1832-1835) mar. A.C.W. SMITH
Robert Henry (b 1834) mar. Mary Emma ????
Mary Ann (b 1837) mar. George W. CALDWELL
Elizabeth (b 1842)

Hannah died 1844, Thomas married Rachel Porter COOK (b 1812). Their
children:
Eliza Frances ( b 1847) mar. Gus CHANDLER
Nancy Virginia (b 1848) mar. Jefferson Lee BELCHER

Several of the kids scattered, some to TX, some to ARK, might have been
some
to LA and OH.

Also (sorry this is so long) - I've been following your messages, and
really
appreciate your trying to sort out Turner lines. I have the following
books,
and would be glad to supply "look-up help", should it be useful to you:
1. Genealogy of the Descendants of Humphrey Turner
2. The Turner Family by Mrs. Ben (Floy) Peterson
3. Turner-Hoyle and Related Families
4. Leftwich-Turner Families of Virginia and Their Connections
5. Turner Family Records by S.A. Perry.

The last one, the Perry book, also attempted to sort out Turners by
clans, and
has a great start on several groups. Any way I can help, let me know!

Hi,

Does anyone have any information about the William TURNER listed below, or his
wife Frances?

" 1 John TURNER b: 1755 Number of children: 10
.. + Elizabeth "Sukie" DILLARD Number of children: 10
 .... 2 William TURNER b: Abt. 1777
 ........ + Frances (Turner) UNKNOWN
 .... 2 [7] George TURNER b: July 22, 1780 Number of children: 12
 ........ + Susannah ADAMS b: 1782 Number of children: 10
 ........... 3 John C. TURNER b: 1800
 ............... + Sara E. (Turner) UNKNOWN "
  >>

I'm trying to locate the William TURNER who was my Thomas TURNER's father.
William supposedly was killed by Indians in 1796 while on his way to KY, and
I've never been able to find out his wife's name. Thomas, a baby, was taken
in by a Quaker family by the name of Beeson and raised by them. Thomas was
born in 1794 in Harper's Ferry, VA, and married Hannah Carson, b. 1797 in
Harper's Ferry. They moved to Ky and raised a large Turner clan there. Could
this be our William???????

Thanks,
Anita Turner

Both Patrick and Bedford had many Quaker families, but I think the most
heavily populated might have been Bedford. I'm sticking my neck out again,

I am looking for the parents and or siblings of Thomas Turner born 1775 to
1785 who married Hannah Myers. They moved from Virginia (my g. grandfather,
Joseph Allen Turner said Bedford County) to Madison County, Ky before 9
December, 1802 when their son Joseph was born. They moved to Adair County, Ky
around 1806.

Bed scanners, this things are getting pretty cheap now. When I last
reviewed these dudes the software required to drive these things created
files to large to transmit via email, even when zipped. Most ISP's have
1meg to 1.5meg limit on message size. Do any know if new generation
software has improved upon this problem?... hate to do the research over
again if somebody has a quick answer? Would be used to duplicate
genealogical documents as opposed to MonaLisa painting :=)

June, take a peek at this... I was sure you addressed this problem at
one time, however I couldn't find it in the archives. Appreciate any
you can share.

Mitosis, I have been struggling to find information on the following
ancestors, thought you might be able to help sort everything out.
Apparently there was two John Turners and two Nancy Brunet's. One John
Turner and Nancy Brunet got married in 1804 in Patrick County, Virginia,
had a family there and died there.

The John Turner and Nancy Brunet I am interested in were married in (per
oral history) Patrick County, Virginia,
had four children there (the marriage certificates of these four
children state they were born there), moved to Floyd County, Kentucky
and had five more children. John and Nancy's first child was Adam
Turner born about 1815 in Patrick County, Virginia. I know from court
documents that Nancy's father was William Brunet. Nancy had a sister
named Elizabeth who married John Toggle. Their other children are:
Elizabeth, Judith, Greenville, Morgan, William, John Burke, Israel and
Alexander. Any information you might be able to provide on this family
would be
appreciated.

I just don't have a gripe on the Kentucky Turners... can anybody help
Patricia with this, some of these names appear unique, maybe someone has
in their database?

If anyone is checking the "Quaker" lead in our "Team Search", it would
seem "Beeson" in going to be the preferred spelling, and probably no
alternates are going to be applicable. Note that we're apt to get
tripped up in our search by names "Beeson and Tearner".

" Edward Beeson, aged 73, a resident of Butler County, KY, declared 18
Aug
1854, that he had been personally acquainted with Thomas Turner since
his
(Turner's) infancy, that he was an orphan and one of Beeson's brothers
took
Turner "while he was quite an infant to raise him until he was grown."
He
further stated that Turner was called by different names; that he was
frequently called by the name Beeson; that when his name was placed on
Militia
Roll it was written Tearner."

Thanks to all who have taken a moment to look into their database for
us... it really is appreciated.
Think I'll try to work on this a while longer... Anita's family need to
know which proud Turner Lineage is theirs. So, for those who have
helped and now have to give up the chase, maybe you could stick a note
on your monitor and now and then glance up to remind yourself should you
forget, as other search venues are persued the name,

"William Turner, Harper's Ferry, Md. late of
Butler County, Ky..."

I have transmitted both text and photos via e-mail. Photos should be saved
in .jpg files. Text can be inserted into the message area or if too large
can be zipped and sent as an attachment.
