Hi ... I've been on the list for some time but have not really found any
other confirmed "cousins". Is anyone out there searching for the family of
John Greenberry Burnett (1810-1893)? He was in Sullivan County, TN and a
soldier in the Cherokee Removal of 1838. He was my g-g-g-grandfather...
Love to find someone out there who is searching for his parents because I've
been stumped for years! Gary

Hi:

Had earlier posted info on 1870 Gallia Co Census in which David Viau, age 29,
Farmer, born OH and his wife Elizabeth, age 25 born OH appeared. Received a
message that David was the son of Gideon Via/Viah/Viau. Now found father,
Gideon, (I believe). I included some of his neighbors as list is said to be
in same sequence of original records (below). Number is the page followed by
the township.

 I looked for cemetery listings:

 Viars Cemetery-Addison Twp.
Only fieldstone markers with no legible markings in 1975. Approximately 5
graves.
It was reported that the parents of Dave & Gideon Viars are buried there.

 Maddy Cemetery - Addison Twp.
 David Viars b. Oct.8, 1840 d. July 19, 1906
 Elizabeth Viars w/o David b. May 8, 1847 d. March 22, 1906

 Maddy Cemetery - Addison Twp.
 William Viars nd
 E. Jane Viars nd
 Gideon Viars nd
 one unmarked grave
 Arthur Viers b. August 19, 1873 d. Sept. 18, 1905
 (The above are side-by-side.)

 Campaign Cemetery - Addison Twp.
 Marker - No Name
 Unmarked grave
 Henry H. Viars b. 1871 d. 1943
 Margaret L. Viars b. 1877 d. 1923
 Bessie J. Viars b. 1895 d. 1972
 Alva A. Viars b. 1905 d. nd
 (The above are side-by-side.)

There is no concrete link to your Gideon, and perhaps some confusion with
another
Gideon. Maybe your Gideon is in the Viars Cemetery.

 John Viers W-1872 WR2, p.54; C-V-3
 Samuel Viers M-1877 C-V-2

Gideon Viah (Viars?) was in Addison Twp in the 1820 Galia County Census:
1 male age 16 but less than 26, 1 male age 26 but less than 45 (Gideon?), 1
male
age 45 & up (Gideon the Revolutionary War Veteran?), 1 female less than 10,
16
but less than 26, 1 female 26 but less than 45 (Gideon's wife?) and1 female
age
45 & Up (Vets' wife?). There were 2 listed as farmers which makes it likely
that
the male 45 & up was too old to work. THE ORIGINAL RECORD NEEDS EXAMINED TO
BE SURE THIS IS A VIARS FAMILY.

From the book " Revolutionary Soldiers Who Lived IN Gallia County, Ohio" ,
edited
by Henrietta Evans & Mary Wood and published by the Gallia County
Genealogical
Society it says on pages 57 & 58 that Gideon Viah/Viers moved to Gallia
County in
1818 and died in Gallia County between March and September, 1840. You should
buy this book for a complete description of Gideon Viers' service, etc. A
