Hello all, I ordered copies of two different James Turners' will's from
Anson Co., N. Carolina hoping it was my ancestor that I'm searching for.
Unfortunately for me, neither of these James Turners is the man I am
searching for. I am posting the information to these lists in case either of
these James' belongs to someone out there. If one is yours, I will be more
than happy to send these wills to you.
The first one is dated 20 July, 1812; James has a wife Lucy TURNER . Both
living on Green Roper. Lends her 3 negroes. Abram, male, Chloa, female,
Clarise, female. One horse, Columbus. One mare, Nance. He mentions numerous
farm animals and furniture to be given to wife Lucy.
He mentions two sons, Henry Marshall Turner and William James Turner. Four
daughters, Wincy H., Martha Ann, Sally L., and Elizabeth N.
Second will.....dated April 14, 1843. He mentions two daughters, Mary and
Martha. He gives them 160 acres of land. Mary's son, his grandson Washington
TURNER to have this land upon her death. Mentions lots of farm animals to be
divided among all of his children, including Mary and Martha, along with
Axuim (or Axwin ?)Nancy, Susan, Sary, James and Lazaras.
