Hello Eddie,

Many thanks again for your response to my Francis Turner query on the BTRVETC
list recently! I have been meaning write you sooner, but I have been away
and things have been a bit hectic (you know how summer can be, I'm sure!).

Right now I have a feeling that unless some miraculous document such as a
birth record or something turns up, Francis will be another one of those
ancestors upon whose true origins we can just speculate...I received some
really interesting reponses to my query (yours included) and they were of
pretty much polar opposite opinions. A couple folks were pretty confident
that Francis was indeed of the Bedford line, and another is adamant that
Francis was Irish. Also, I came across a deed abstract for Halifax Co in the
Rootsweb archives that mentions a Francis Turner and the names of this
Francis' brothers didn't seem to fit the pattern of our Francis' line (I
think one was named Tandy and another Terisha?). So, who knows at this
point, right??! At least it's fun trying to figure it all out! :)

By the way, I also want to thank you for submitting the wills of Alexander,
James Sr and James Ingram to the Botetourt, Franklin and Patrick Co archives!
Would it be possible for you to send me scanned versions of these wills?
That would be so wonderful! I recently acquired from my mother a booklet on
the 1975 bicentennial of the Town Creek Primitive Baptist Church (my
granddaddy Posie Ingram was a preacher there). There are lots of old family
names in there, including Shadrack and William Turner, and it's a pretty
interesting in general. If you don't already have this booklet, I would be
pleased to snail mail you a copy if you'd like? (I xeroxed up a batch to
send to anyone who wants a copy!) Just let me know and I'll put it in the
mail for you right away.

Take care, Eddie, and best of luck on your research!

My apologies to the list at large; I meant to send my most recent message to
Eddie Vaden privately, and accidentally sent it to everyone instead!
However, if anyone else is interested in a copy of the Town Creek booklet I
mentioned as well, please email me with your name and address and I'd be glad
to send it.

Hi Fellow Researchers -

Searching for any information on my paternal grandmother Bessie Lee TURNER's
ancestors, and exactly where in Tennessee she was born, if indeed she was
actually born there.

 Bessie Lee TURNER
   b. 13-Oct-1864 Tennessee
   d. 23-Nov-1941 Abilene, TX

A very helpful fellow researcher found marriage records in Sumner Co., TN,
showing that she and my grandfather, Thomas A. Price, were married on
20-Sep-1883. Thomas' census listing shows my grandmother, Bessie, to have
been born in Tennessee, and her tombstone confirmed the vital dates. Her
death certificate did not show the first name of either of her parents, only
that her mother's very unusual maiden name was TRIBUE.

Her obituary gave no other information not already known, except that a
sister, Mrs. Jim Young of Rockfield, KY, was listed as a survivor. As yet,
have had no results in finding any J., Jim or James Young in Warren Co., KY,
who fits that description. The same fellow researcher who found her marriage
records reported that her middle name was listed as Lee. Several middle
initials have been used in various records. The 1900 census records have her
middle initial as E, and her cemetery records show it as J., but her
tombstone shows it as T, which is probably for Turner.

I have Thomas' information back to the 1500s, in Wales, but can't get over
that well known brick wall on finding any useful information about Bessie,
her parents or siblings. Does anybody have any information on Bessie
Turner's mother's first name, anything about her father, or her birthplace,
or verification of any the above info? As always, will happy to share
anything I have.

John
