This web page lists ancestors for both Francis and Shadrack. I still have
not seen any hard evidence that ancestors for either have been found. I'd be
delighted if someone could provide some.

Greetings to Everyone:

Does anyone researching the Nowlin family recognize the following:

Thomas Nowlin (b.1878, d.1939) married Nannie Jane Clark (b.1884, d.1950). I
don't know any more than that, other than they may have had a child by 1902.
This family possibly was in Raleigh Co WV or Floyd Co VA.

Thanks much.

Nyla,

I have a Nannie Jane Clark, d/o William Thomas Clark and Sarah Lillian
Shelton, but I don't have a marriage record for her. I can do a pedigree on
her, but I don't have Thomas Nowlin in my records.

You may wish to return to the web site and review the page 'Time Line'. Here
we have tried to raise the point that not all questions have not been resolved
and many riddles remain... and certainly 'tradition' always takes root in any
lineage whether fact or fiction. The 'Time Line' attempts to point out some of
these problems to the reader. The charts for both 'Lavinder and Shadrack'
contain content therein to the reader that much is unproven or possibly
tradition.

Your conclusions regarding Shadrack's lineage more depends on one's personal
interpretation of the "Caroline Record". You might have noted it also is
included within the web site for each reader to consider and digest. And
certainly all will not reach the same conclusion... the reader has more than
one possible scenario to consider, we have made the effort to present the
problems fairly, but if you don't read the content...

You might note the 'Shadrack' chart does not indicate an English birth. The
family bible of Andrew H. Turner, (purchased at the estate sale for $3.50 by
J.D.Turner) does raise doubts. Nathaniel Henry (Nat) Turner's personal papers
and research also is cause for reflection ... his notes and other documents do
not support an English birth even for John Turner. Therefore note the first two
generations for Shadrack are not charted... it wasn't an oversight.

One should pause to reflect that an early grave was the norm in these years.
However they did look after their own... many called brothers/sisters were in
fact cousins which were brought to family from other families... something one
should consider in
any scenario...

Inasmuch as the web site is the product of many, and not just one, the effort
was make to note problems in the hopes that those who follow will be both
"aware" and more successful in their research, not one to 'fit' some personal
viewpoint. As stated in "Time Line", there is more unknown of Shadrack's
beginnings than is known".

Therefore if the 'included cautions' were not read... I would like at this time
to further extend the 'caution' in this post. "Most is correct, some that is
in question, and no doubt... some that is damn wrong!"
