Note: AOL subscribers: the digest is sent out as one large message
(no attachments) but apparently is turned into a file you must download
on your end by AOL. I suggest you complain to AOL (loudly!), or use an
ISP that doesn't modify emails. See http://thelist.internet.com/ or

With O. E. Pilson's passing we have lost a fine man, a great historian and
exemplary genealogist. So sorry..............

I'm looking for information about Moses Burnett, born about 1750 in
Virginia, married Rachael Morley about 1770, and died in 1781.

Any help would be appreciated.

Searching for the reason that the widowed Mary Elizabeth Stalcup (Stallcop),
aged in her mid-70's, left her family of grown children in Smith Co TN (from
the area now in Trousdale Co TN) sometime between 1855 and 1860, and traveled
to Williamson Co IL to live with the family of Thomas Houston Burnett, where
she appeared on the 1860 Census. Thomas Houston Burnett's wife was Nancy
Caroline Parks and they were married in December 1841 in Williamson Co IL.
Nancy Caroline Parks was the daughter of Hugh Parks and Nancy Corder, who
moved to IL from Wilson Co TN in the very early 1820's.

Mary Elizabeth Stalcup is buried in Coal Bank Springs Cemetery, Williamson Co
IL. Her tombstone reads: Elizabeth, Wife of William. Died 15 April 1863 aged
81 years. Her husband, William, was also her first cousin, and her married and
maiden names are the same. She was originally buried in Parks-Burnett
Cemetery with the family of James R. Burnett, who is also from Smith Co TN.
They were all reinterred by the coal company in the 1960's. His wife, Mary
Jane McMurry, has an aunt, Alethea McMurry Blackwell, that married William
Thomas Stalcup around 1835 in Smith Co TN, the son of this Mary Elizabeth
Stalcup, but I can't find a connection between the Burnett's and the Stalcup's
other than James' wife's uncle by marriage is a Stalcup. So why was Mary
Elizabeth Stalcup living with Thomas Houston Burnett instead of Mary Jane
McMurry Burnett, a widow with small children living nearby? Can anyone shed
light on this mystery?

I received a message, and lost it, from someone today re: Floyd T. Boyd, m.
who Mahala Hooker, 13 Oct 1870. Marriage record lists his parents as
Spencer and Nancy Boyd. The files that I extracted and published were taken
from Marriage Book #3, this record from pg. # 94. While I do make mistakes,
I really don't pull names from a hat.

The person who questions the parentage can send a SASE and a check for $10
to:
Ms Suan C. Gasperini, Clerk
Patrick County Circuit Court
P.O> Box 148
Stuart, VA 24171

Be sure and include names, date, book and page number.
