Michigan Top Ten Chemical Engineering Department

Dustin Chang in Lab.The Department of Chemical Engineering is ranked in the top ten by the National Research Council (NRC). The NRC recently released an assessment of PhD programs in the United States to provide a more comprehensive assessment of doctoral programs than popular ranking systems currently available. The report updates a study last completed in 1995, and provides comprehensive data on research activity, student support, and other factors affecting graduate education and research.

For the two general rankings of chemical engineering programs published by the NRC, the Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan was listed as one of the ten best departments (image below is from C&EN article )

We have established a fund for graduate support in Dr. Churchill's honor. Stu's loyalty and support of the department over the years has been outstanding. We would like to honor him, while also helping Michigan to maintain its place as a great chemical engineering graduate institution.

If you are interested in contributing to this fund please contact Pete Lederman at pblederman@verizon.com

Fred Shippey (BSE '62, MSE '70) had been working as a student photographer for several University publications in 1960. So it probably wasn't surprising that he was able to shoot some great photos of presidential candidate, John F. Kennedy, when he came to town in October for a memorable visit to Ann Arbor.
