Resolution to Support the GEO Walkout and Strike
Whereas, the Graduate Employees Organization has been in negotiations with the University administration since November 1998.
Whereas, negligible headway has been made in negotiations.
Whereas, Graduate Student Instructors are fundamental to undergraduate education at U of M. GSIs teach 50% of all undergraduate class hours.
Whereas, a victory for the Graduate Employees Organization will result in a higher quality education for undergraduates and graduates alike and progress towards equality in education.
Whereas, it is in the interest of undergraduates, professors and all campus workers to unite with the GEO.
Therefore be it resolved, the Michigan Student Assembly supports the GEO walkout scheduled for March 10 and 11, 1999.
Therefore be it resolved, the Michigan Student Assembly supports the GEO strike scheduled to begin March 15, 1999.
Therefore be it resolved, MSA will help to educate and organize students and professors to support the GEO.
