Earl played high school hockey in Windsor, Ontario before enrolling at the University of Michigan in 1950. Here, he played mostly center but also saw action on both wings and in goal. Earl's most memorable experience at Michigan was playing in the NCAA championship play off in Colorado. His most exciting game was his first game for Michigan against Michigan Tech, in which he scored a hat trick. He was elected captain for the 1952-53 season. He graduated from the School of Business Administration. | |
