| Wally played Jr. A hockey in Winnipeg, Manitoba, before coming to the University of Michigan. A high scoring forward under Coach Vic Heyliger, Wally was the third-highest all time point scorer for the Wolverines at the end of his Michigan career. A member of the first NCAA Championship Team in 1948, Wally scored the winning goal against Boston College as well as picking up three goals and three assists in the 8 - 4 semi-final game against Dartmouth. | |
| Selected as the team's most valuable player in 1948, Wally was also a member of two All-American teams. After graduation, Wally pursued a career in the oil industry in Alberta. | |
