Eddie Lowrey played senior amateur hockey in Ottawa. Onen of five brothers, all who played professional hockey, Eddie turned pro for a long and lengthy career. As a high flying centerman, his career spanned 12 years with the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Ontarios, and Hamilton Tigers.
 
After his professional career, he coached for two years at Queens University. In 1927, Eddie came to Ann Arbor to become Michigan's second head coach. He coached 17 years at Michigan, coaching a total of 279 games. He had 9 winning seasons and won 3 conference championships.
