Steve hails from Duluth, Minnesota and played high school hockey at Duluth Central High School. He played goal from 1926-1929 for Coach Barss and Coach Lowrey. Steve was elected as captain in his sophomore year. He was selected as Michigan's first All-American in the sport of hockey. In the 1926-27 season, Steve allowed only 12 goals in 13 games and had six shutouts. In the 1927-28 season, Steve allowed 31 goals in 13 games and had one shutout. In his last season he allowed 74 goals in 17 games and had a career GAA of 2.72. | |
Steve's most memorable game was a game played against Minnesota in Windsor, when U of M beat Minnesota 1-0 to tie for the Big Ten title. Steve graduated from the College of Literature, Science, and Arts in 1927 and from Law School in 1930. | |
