| Doug came from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and played for the Verdun Maple Leafs "Jr. A" team before enrolling at Michigan in the fall of 1965. Playing center and left wing for Coach Al Renfrew 1966-1967 to 1968-1969 seasons, Doug played in 79 career games, scoring 50 goals and 49 assists for a career total of 99 points. He was the team's leading scorer during his junior year. He only had 20 career penalties. Michigan won 53 games and lost only 28 during Doug's career. | |
| His most memorable experience at Michigan was listening to Coach Renfrew's comments prior to the start of games. They were great, short and to the point. Doug's most important goals were the tying and winning goals he scored against Denver in Ann Arbor. Nicknamed "Hot Rod", his awards at Michigan included being named to the All-star teams for the RPI Tournament and the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament and to the All Big Ten Team. Doug graduated from the School of Education in 1969. | |
