| Dan is from Livonia, Michigan and played high school hockey for Catholic Central before enrolling at Michigan in the fall of 1976. He played center under coach Dan Farrell from 1976-77 to 1979-80. Dan was a prolific scorer for the University of Michigan as he scored 94 goals and 105 assists for a career total of 199 points. In 1995 he was in 9th place on Michigan's all-time scoring list. In 1977, Dan was selected as the Dekers Most Colorful Rookie; was awarded the Carl Isaacson Academic Athlete Trophy in 1980 and also was an alternate captain in the 1979-80 season. | |
| Dan's most memorable experience at Michigan was playing in the NCAA finals at the Detroit Olympia in 1977. His most memorable goal was a game winner in overtime against Michigan Tech in 1980. Nicknamed "Lergie", Dan graduated from the College of Literature, Science and the Arts in 1980. After graduation, Dan signed with the St. Louis Blues and played for the Salt Lake City and Port Huron teams before retiring from hockey to the business world. | |
