compiling ldapd on an SGI

I've been trying to compile ldap 3.2 on a SGI Indy workstation running Irix 5.3.
Has anyone else done this? When building the servers, ldapd stops with three
unresolved symbols : ufn_init, setenv, unsetenv. I have the ICR2 software
installed, and ufn_init does indeed exist in libisode.a. I am unable to
determine where these calls are coming from. I can stop the ufn_init problem by
undefining user-friendly naming, but I really didn't want to do that.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
