Restricted web X.500 client. (fwd)

I want to force people to specify an ou and cn (with Search ACLs in place)
but the current web clients available (wlu and web500gw) don't appear to
provide this. I'm not keen on UFN since I don't think it's obvious to
people who've had no experience with X.500.

I've tried playing with ldapsearch(1) and think I have a filter which is

(&(ou=comp*)(cn=*name))

How do I use this with ldap_search_st(3) which seems to require calls to
the filter routines before the search function.

Any ideas?
