My mom in a green dress, tan purse, burgandy shoes, and Niki taken about two years in America. My mom is barely 5' tall, and standing next to that stationwagon, she even looks tinier.

In just three years, my parents was able to save enough money to purchase a home. My mom controlled the finances frugally and for a period of five years, she revealed that she never bought a single piece of new clothing for herself. My dad, on the other hand, would mention the fact that he never bought any new clothing for years everytime one of us came home from the mall with shopping bags in hand. This is significant because it reveals the sacrifice of my parents in not only leaving their beloved homeland, but also the continuing sacrifice even when our family has adapted to American way of life.

The first time my dad saw garage sale signs, he thought they were selling garages. But quickly he found out otherwise and garage sale hunting became one of his favorite things to do.
