How do you get creative ideas? What is it that causes you to see
things differently than someone else? What inspires you to not just live,
but to feel the joy of life as you actively take part in it?
This web page shows a few of the things that inspire me. If you wish
to copy any original poems on this site, you MUST keep the author's

Welcome To My Muse
".... And I have felt
A presence that disturbs me with the joy
Of elevated thoughts; a sense sublime
Of something far more deeply interfused,
Whose dwelling is the light of setting suns,
And the round ocean and the living air,
And the blue sky, and in the mind of man;
A motion and a spirit, that impels
All thinking things, all objects of all thought,
And rolls through all things. Therefore am I still
A lover of the meadows and the woods,
And mountains; and of all that we behold
From this green earth; of all the mighty world
Of eye, and ear,--both what they half create,
And what perceive; well pleased to recognise
In nature and the language of the sense,
The anchor of my purest thoughts, the nurse,
The guide, the guardian of my heart, and soul
Of all my moral being."
-from "Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey,
On Revisiting the Banks of the Wye During a Tour. July 13, 1798"
by William Wordsworth
"When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free."
-Wendell Berry, The Peace of Wild Things
Letter Loom
Thoughts flower in my mind--
From words once heard they bloom;
The best for you I find,
To weave a letter loom.
Ideas shaped to tell--
In bright silk they are spun;
Nutrients feed each cell,
To flourish in the sun.
Patterns hidden but there--
Over great spaces they fly;
White crows seen if you dare,
To test your will to deny.
Insight is correct choice--
From dark to right it glows;
Truth speaks in your own voice,
To plant more seedling prose.
The tapestry is done--
Over time will it span;
Read my soul bared for one,
To grow all that you can.
