The Gathering Place

Where Your Dreams Come True

This website provides information and images for the many activities of the Duderstadt Center as it celebrates 25 years.  The Center is a major facility on the University of Michigan’s North Campus designed to provide students, faculty, and staff access to some of the most sophisticated and transformational tools of the emerging digital revolution. Resources in the Center range from visualization workstations to virtual reality, the latest versions of software and hardware for world-class performance spaces, and emerging technologies in fields such as 3-D printing, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics, all provided in an environment that encourages collaboration, experimentation, and creativity.

The Duderstadt Center is designed to offer a distinctive combination of advanced network and computational technologies, specialized software, technically rich spaces, professional practitioners, and collaborate works spaces free of intellectual and physical barriers to interdisciplinary discovery. It is not a space filled simply with learning technologies but rather the advanced tools students need to learn for professional success.

Included are many of the most powerful tools in the world, from visualization workstations to virtual reality environments (e.g., “CAVEs”), the latest versions of software and hardware for world-class performance spaces, and emerging technologies in fields such as 3-D printing, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics, all provided in an environment with professional staff who encourage collaboration, experimentation, and creativity and available 24 hours a day, through an array of centers describe in detail in this website:
