It was hard not to become angry, especially at the lack of any responsibility for the man's life. However, it bothered me that my legitimate concerns were not given more than an afterthought. Perhaps as many years as she as held the position has lured Grandmother into a lax state. I will have to word my report and objection to this just carefully. The other issue at stake, though, is that the church here, sadly, just does not seem to have its act together -- to dismiss a group bent on its destruction as no threat only to see them kidnap a family member and make pains to silence the unwanted was sloppy, plain and simple.
The scene of the crime showed little of evidence. Shegan had clawed at the walls until his fingers were bloody and worn; he'd painted "help me" in blood on the wall. However, evidence from the medic shows he did indeed hang himself. No magical evidence or influences could be found. Of course not. The enemy is prepared, unlike this place.

The Lady Delilah finally allowed me into to see Fayne. I had wondered for some time this day about Fayne's true nature. Doppleganger? Not likely; they had little actual intelligence and something told me they would not have been able to survive that Pattern artifice. In my home, dragons and other great beings close to the gods have the ability to change to human forms; until proven otherwise, I chose to guess for the better.
Fayne was in bad shape. She allowed me to try to ease the suffering somewhat, and for the first time, I called upon the direct benediction of Paladine. The voice called at me from so far away -- I feared for a moment that the distance was too great before my faith filled within me, and the grace of my god filled my hands, and then filled Fayne. Even she had to admit to feeling somewhat better. Not my best work, but we'd take it. I left Fayne to puzzle as to why someone would do something out of the kindness of their heart.

Mythos needed a "spotter" for her trip up to the magical palace, and I volunteered to help. She seemed in better spirits than earlier that day, and she said she'd talked to some people and worked some things out. The wait for her to finish was uneventful, and suddenly she appeared next to me, looking totally depleted. I was about to ask if she would like me to carry her, but I sensed the determination in her, and considering our not-so-auspicious beginnings, simply walked by her side as we headed back down the mountain.
